Well he's injured too if you're really looking for potential vs payoff.
Julian Draxler
It won't help us now Biggus but we do have others who can play his position so he can be eased in and hopefully in a few years he will be playing at a very high level.

No issue with having a deal that has significant add ons as then we pay IF he delivers rather than just fronting the cash.
£25mill + seems the going rate for top talents at the moment so you either keep letting them pass or you take a risk.

If we get him and Vucinic it'll strike a nice balance.
Its not like he's Theo or Ramsey when they joined either. He's got plenty of experience and is already playing at a level where he is one of the main 2 or 3 players at a German CL side. He's also a full international for Germany. He scored 10 in 30 in the Bundesliga last season from midfield.
If was 23 with those credentials you'd have to be pretty happy about it. He's ready to make an impact now and has a few years before he reaches his peak.

Only for another week or so, apparently.

Exactly
If we don't sign him now someone else will do in the summer or next year

Oh, that's good, thought it was more like a month. Sign him up Arsène.

"We are happy to have such a world class player in our lines. I am very convinced that Draxler will be playing for us in the Rueckrunde [second half of the season] but most probably beyond that," he said. "We are not interested in letting Julian leave, and he has also not approached us about a transfer."
On reports of an Arsenal delegation heading to Gelsenkirchen to negotiate a deal, he added: "I checked my office if someone was waiting for me, but nobody was there. Of course, there are always other clubs interested in him, and should someone make a serious offer for him, then we as a club have to professionally consider that. That does not only apply to Julian Draxler, but to every other player."
There has also been talk of a £37 million release clause in Draxler's contract, however, Heldt insisted that Schalke have the power to demand as much as they like for the player.
"That agreement was only in place for last year, from now on the transfer fee is up for negotiation," he said.
I thought we had big Dick on the case, has he flopped here?
Who knows. All people needed to realise was that Wenger is not going to spend this sort of money on a young, attacking midfielder and that the papers and Sky Sports want to sell stories of deadline day being a big deal.
I reckon this whole thing has been a complete fabrication.

It's like they didn't even notice he was there.
Thinking about this from the Schalke perspective and it makes sense for PR purposes to come out and say this publicly to appease the fans only to come out and say later the player wanted to go etc. if a deal did occur.
"should someone make a serious offer for him, then we as a club have to professionally consider that"
they're begging us to make an offer.
It's been obvious for a while that the kid wants out if you look at what he's been saying in the press this season.
Arsenal chiefs never flew to Gelsenkirchen?
Sami Mokblel lied didn't he?
Horst Heldt's denying everything.
Not sure what exactly is going on here
My spider sense tells me that we don't want to pay the fee that Schalke are after in this window and I'm fully okay with that.
OK with that in the sense that signing not signing him isn't going to have a real impact on our season one way or another?
That'd be my feeling but then again I have no well founded idea of what Draxler could bring right now.
Mostly because I feel the figures being bandied about are massively overpriced. Clearly transfers aren't a science, but I feel that we could get two high quality players to really strengthen the squad for the alleged cost of Draxler and we would be better served by doing so.
The day that we signed Ozil, we stopped needing these pseudo-winger come midfielders.
What happened to the Griezmann rumours? I haven't seen much of him, but judging by his profile he looks like the kind of player we should try to bring in.
Scored a very nice hat trick in his last game, Vela scored a cracker too. No recent rumours though.
Don't think any high quality players go in the 15-20m bracket these days
