80k-per-week wages for a 20-year-old? I find that pretty hard to believe.

Not that I mind too much. We've got the money now.

80k per week is nothing for a 40m pound player. He'll re-negotiate after a year or two provided he does the business.

Some adamant this deal is almost done and some saying there is nothing in it. God I hate these fucking transfer windows....

Who is saying that the deal is done?

English press are saying deal is close to being done

Kinda numb to transfers these day

If he signs sure I'll get my willy out and shake it but I'll just be going through the motions

Chiefs are in Gelsenkirchen.
White smoke soon.

Some say he's the new Jamie Sanderson

Sami, eh?

Don't get the relevance but that was hilarious.

My sides 😆

yoolian must be keen to move now, or we wouldn't be bothering. reckon around 30m plus installments is fair.

😆

where do you guys find this stuff? 😆

😆 That was hilarious!

Sorry for taking this off topic... 😆 Just couldn't help myself, every time I see that name I read it with that accent. Mods can move it to the Tucker McRoy thread if they want.

So... Draxler.

Was watching the Özil against Southampton comp earlier and was thinking to myself, what's better than having one brilliant German attacking midfielder in the team? Having two brilliant German attacking mids in the team! Come on, sign this guy!

No worries about bringing the thread off topic if it's for some comedy 🙂

What about this ruptured ankle tendon though?
The Mirror article says Draxler'll be ready to play in seven days, originally it was reported he'd be out until March.
Which is correct?

Draxler, Ozil, Gnabry, Podolski has to happen at some point. If we sign Jules

I think I read from somewhere that he should be back in February. Not sure how accurate that was though.

He hasn't been introduced to Arsenal's medical team as yet, so I'd err on the side of optimism with his return date.

Don't forget we have Zelalem who can also kraut there.

Let's forget about Draxler lads. It's not happening in Jan.

That's as good as Arsene announcing it himself for me. I'm off to order my Draxler shirt now.

Let me guess - you'd be surprised if it did?

£37m is stupid money. You have priced in almost all his potential with no fall back if he doesn't reach it.

No issue with having a deal that has significant add ons as then we pay IF he delivers rather than just fronting the cash.

Equally this may be miles from done even at this stage.

Honigstein is clueless though.

not sure what the issue is here. Draxler is a starter for one of the biggest clubs in Europe. he's a known quantity. we don't have the advantage of knowing something nobody else knows (a la Henry on the Juve bench). do not try to compare prices today to prices 2 or 3 years ago. and do not try to compare what we are willing to pay now to what we were willing to pay 2 or 3 years ago.

Juan Mata has just gone for £37m. I don't think Draxler should be going for the same personally, its too much.

£30m plus is the going rate for these sort of players these days. Look at Moura, Hazard etc.

Still don't believe this will happen, way too much money for a kid.

If Wenger is genuinely willing to spend that much, Draxler must be Hazard level good

Off topic, but has Lucas done anything of note since moving to PSG?

Haven't seen much, but from what I've hear, he hasn't lived up to his hype.

Draxler's 6'2", technically gifted and mobile with at least an eye for goal. There's a premium on players that combine those kinds of attributes, so £25-30m plus add-ons seems normal, if not normal for Arsenal, right?

Sounds like one for the future, that's not really going to help us now is it?

Well like I've said before Eto was considered the perfect short term signing he has everything cost a fortune and got 3 league goals in his first half season. Nobody we sign is guaranteed to help immediately. Experienced players at a good age like Morientes have come to the league and been 1 in 5 scorers.

Id rather aim for good and improving rather than good but getting worse.
