He has the physical and technical attributes to be a striker. Whether he has the mindset of a striker, I don't know. Van Persie, for example, always had that.

Take Podolski for example. He likes to have the ball at his feet and wants to be involved too much in the build up, instead of always looking to make a run and get on the end of things.

But, Podolski IS a striker. Or do you disagree?

Yeah, a poor one. Good wide forward though.

Podolski is a poor striker now?

He is a great striker in a two striker system. Evidently not at his best as a lone frontman though. That's why he finds himself on the wing more often than he would like.

Draxler or Ross Barkley?

Draxler. I want an exciting forward player. We're stacked in midfield already

Van Persie almost certainly did not "always have that". He struggled for a while as the lone forward and had a bad habit of wanting to join in with play rather than score goals.

What I meant was that Van Persie was already a goal hungry player during his days with Feyenoord. He had that ego-streak a great goalscorer needs. Even got into trouble with his senior players, because of his attitude.

I reckon he struggled because when he came in, we played 4-4-2 and Wenger wanted to turn him into a second striker, because of his link-up play. It just took time to readjust his game after we switched to a one striker system. Obviously the injuries didn't help on that front either.

It took RVP less than two months to play the #9 role at a very high level. He was on fire before his ankle ligaments were snapped on a muddy pitch in Italy.

Wenger seems to mainly convert players he knows. So Henry he had as a kid, RVP was here for years before being moved, same with Toure...

They both play in midfield.

Wasn't it Chiellini who did his knee in Italy? Fucking international friendlies.

Was the ankle, and yes, it was Chiellini. Wasn't a particularly bad challenge, just bad luck. May sound silly but we may have won the title that season had RVP stayed fit. Cesc had his best ever season and was playing behind Bendtner and Arshavin.

Yeah. Even Theo's better than him.

Theo is a poor striker?

Cesc had great numbers that season precisely because of the vacuum in front of him.

Are you getting at the fact that a striker isn't necessarily a centre forward?
