There are a lot of things we could/should do, but I think flipping Lacazette (+ cash) for either Sancho or Dembele in January seems like the most exciting move that is at least vaguely on the edge of being possible.

Lacazette has been a huge disappointment. The only reason he hasn't received the Giroud treatment is because Aubameyang has saved his ass and taken the spotlight off him. He's on course for a third season where he won't score more than 20 goals in all competitions. That is not good enough for an Arsenal striker.

This has been the most obvious move. We need to balance our team. I wouldn’t even flip him for a forward. I’d use his money to get a high quality midfielder or central defender. Start Pépé and Martinelli wide

I'll honestly admit that I thought Nelson would show more than he has so far. I expected the occasional blip and some stretches of games where he under-performed, but this seems to be more systemic, to the point where Ljungberg name-checks him among the players left behind. In that context, I'd go get a wide player - can't have Pepe and 2 kids as the only wide players in the team. Am still glad we sold Iwobi and gave Nelson a shot, but that's the price you pay for giving youth a chance - sometimes it doesn't work. Maybe Nelson needs a year or two more out on loan and then can take another shot at getting back in the first team.

The fact that he couldn't be a regular starter at Hoffenheim, came back and within a few starts fell behind Saka and Martinelli says alot of his current development curve.

I see the little talent in him (certainly not Sancho or other world beater talent that others are claiming) but his mental strength needs some strengthening. That's the sole reason his talent isn't applied well on pitch yet. Time is on his side though

Think Nelson has been about as good or maybe even marginally better than Saka has so far this season. I think he’s been really unlucky not to get more playing time than he has so far, from his knee injury to Saka’s first two games being his best two games to Emery fucking up so badly he felt compelled to play a first choice team in some Europa games. Also worth pointing out that Nelson had the same non-penalty xG+xA per 90 in the Bundesliga last season as Kai Havertz (who you’ll certainly see wishlisted for massive money).

Nelson is just not that good. Feel like I've been saying this for 15 years now, but if he were a young player on Aston Villa or whatever, we wouldn't give half a turd about him.

Look at Iwobi (who at least can do a job out there, albeit with no end product) - looks bang average at Everton. Decent squad player, don't get me wrong, but you can't be a star attacking player if you can't shoot or finish - it's that simple.

Jury's out on whether Saka can be more than squad depth for a good Arsenal side.

Nelson is not good enough. It was blatantly obvious in the summer and even more obvious now. Guy is powder poof.

That would mean more if your whole thing wasn't to think that all of our players are bad and that the squad is awful.

I personally don't think Nelson will become good enough either, but it's too early to say that it's blatantly obvious. When our best player was Nelson's age, he had played zero matches for Milan and was being loaned out to four clubs before getting sold.

What’s promising is outside of Martinelli, Nelson had the best footballing toolkit from the youngsters. Really technically sound player who could play a couple of positions. He just needs close attention from the coaches and real commitment. He will come good, maybe just not as quickly and successfully as some had suggested

Yeah I have to agree with Claude. Nelson has the technical ability. His problem is mental. He doesn't force the issue and is too passive a lot of the time but that could be attributed to how little gamr time he gets and the knock on confidence issues it brings about. If he gets a good run of games and builds up some confidence I think he could end up being a really good player for us. Writing him off at this stage is a gross exaggeration.

Nelsons is ok, I think he'll be a decent player but I don't think he'll ever be a nailed on first XI player for us if we get back to being a CL level team. IMO Saka has a lot more potential.
