Regarding strikers, if there are no elites one, we might need to take a gamble on eastern europe and americas. Have anybody seen much of Ciro Immobile who is currently leading the serie A charts? I remembered him being linked with us when he was young and people laughed at his name.

Players like Finnbogason, Johansson, Jonathan Soriano and Batshuayi might be worth a gamble.

I was just sitting in my office thinking, why would a team that's topping La Liga and in the Champions League Quarterfinals sell their most prized asset? Even with mountains of debt. Something tells me that either
i. Diego Costa is going nowhere, or
ii. the kind of money required to take him will make even Mourinho's eyes water

We should give it a shot, but we would likely be better off investing a ltot of time in securing some combination of Balotelli, Reus, Griezmann, Mandzukic, Remy

Haven't seen him play, but the rumored price is £37m. Is he worth that much?

he's worth at least that much. he's phenomenal. strong, can drive at players. can score from anywhere. remarkable reflexes as well, so can poach.
37m would be a steal. that's why he will be paid 200k+ by whoever gets him

If you were to spend £37m for a DM you'd want the finished article not a good prospect. The likes of Schneiderlin, Gonalons and Bender would be available cheaper and a lot further in their development, could even say finished article. Matic is a quality player and only cost Chelsea about £21m and that was with him being Portuguese player of the year.

I have seen some Atletico matches, and agree that we should go all in for Costa. But I read that Man Utd is going to pay £37m for Carvalho. Is he worth that much?

Costa has a clause, Atletico have serious debt problems. I could maybe see him staying there another season but he's pretty available IMO.

don't think it's that simple. if they win the league or even finish close, they could be a target for investment. they can at least bank on some Champions League money and pass that all directly to the banks.

someone who know Spanish clauses can explain if the club is bound to accept, etc.

I also don't think Diego Costa will come to us, just a hunch but with him sharing the same agent as Mourinho (Jorge Mendes) I think Chelsea will be in pole position to sign him. They might go for Falcao instead but Costa is more his type of player. We made a move in January and he turned us down, fair enough world cup place at stake and doing well with Atletico but just think there is more to that.

My understanding is for foreign clubs we would technically have to pay Costa the money, who would then go to the league association and buy out his contract, they would then pay A.Madrid. They say when foreign clubs come in you have to pay some kind of tax but a precedent was set with Javi Martinez when the courts ruled he didn't have to but not sure what the situation is currently. Now if the club doesn't resist they could just say if 32m is the release clause, instead of paying possibly 38m give us something on top of that and forget about going down the other route. I believe Bayern and Barca came to a similar arrangement over the transfer of Thiago.
