Our squad is genuinely so shit it's hard to know where to start. Off the top of my head, I would not be mad if we had RB Leipzig's defenders, Leicester City's midfield and Luka Jovic, just to start.

Really, this is entirely academic. It's going to take a lot for me to get over passing up on Mukiele to sign Sokratis and Lichtsteiner so that we could spend more money and be older and worse. This club is really not going to do anything that is even remotely intelligent no matter how stupidly obvious it is.

I'm not mad at our net spend. I don't know what the fuck else people would want the owner to be chiefly responsible for as it relates to football operations.

Also Mukiele who he keeps wish listing has been mostly piss poor and cant buy a game for Leipzig

I would go with

De Ligt in defense
Ndombele in midfield
Nelson back

I like De Ligt, but rarely do young center backs work out at big clubs, and the ones that do you have to be extremely patient with. If we are spending that kind of money, rather spend it on a proven player like Koulibaly.

We seem to be scoring goals without him. Iwobi is developing at a good rate, I trust in Mkhitaryan, and Nelson can give us 50% of that dynamic winger. But we need to invest in a 5+ year central defender, and we need that dynamic central midfeilder to replace Ramsey and then some for the next 5+ years as well.

One step at a time still, practically. It's fun to rearrange the squad on the forum but tats not happening.
If we get a top replacement for xhaka, I'd be ecstatic,everything else staying the same.

Basically. We still have to exploit Guendouzi and Torreira fully, while Holding, Iwobi, AMN and Bellerin also still have significant upside which the gaffer will take advantage of. There is no need to do wild squad overhauls. Just keep focusing on quality. If most of the money goes into the two players I described and then loose change goes towards another left back and goalie, we will be in decent shape.

We need quality personnel at the back to compensate for the manager's inclination to build a side thats attacks with a lot of men forward. Emery has had a poor defensive record and he needs top quality individuals there. Everything else can stay the same. Even Xhaka.

IMO it depends on what shape we intend to play with. If Emery wants to go to his 4231 then we have more work to do than if we retain the 3412/3421.
