He's an exciting, explosive player. I'm comfortable that he's the kind of wide man who complements a single striker because he directly creates goals and scores a lot. If it were up to me I’d try for something like this

Out. Cech, Lichtsteiner, Jenkinson, Mustafi, Elneny, Welbeck, Ramsey, Ospina.

In. Cillessen, Konate, Grimaldo, Gbamin, Sarr, Wilson

I think our strongest assets are Laca and Auba and we need to play both, which to my mind is best done through a 4-3-1-2 formation. Given that, my transfer window strawman is the following:

Out: Cech, Lichtsteiner, Jenks (2M), Chambers (20M), Mustafi (20M), Elneny (5M), Xhaka (30M), Ozil (25M), Mkhi (20M)
In: Mancini (25M), Malang Sarr (15M), Aarons (15M), Doucoure (35M), Herrera (Free), Pellegrini (30M), Under (50M)

That's admittedly a stretch, but can be done and will fill us well in most positions except 2nd GK and 4th choice striker (don't think Nketiah is good enough yet).

You came with a sickle, mate. Nice.

Pellegrini is a good shout for long-term at left back. I'm still not fully convinced by Kolasinac, who makes too many mistakes in passing and closing down attackers.
Tell me about Aarons. This the Norwich right back, not Rolando, right?

I'm guessing he's talking about Lorenzo Pellegrini, not Luca. 30m for a left back with a handful professional appearances doesn't sound right

Yeah and some of the players are pretty raw though really good shouts. Agree with all the outs, but I would target these players and go for a 433.

In: Tierney (20M), Maguire/Upamecano (40M), Wan-Bissaka (25M), Zaniolo (30M), Herrera (Free), Bailey (50M), Pepe (35M)

I like Skrinar, De Ligt and Koulibaly but really out of our price range I think. Bailey has the potential to be our special maverick player, we need someone like that to elevate us to the next level. Ndombele and Aouar are dead cert to be world class but probably also out of our league. Depay has improved leaps and bounds, worth a gamble though.

If we are smart we will secure a future deal for Jovic and loan him back to Frankfurt too.

I don't really know why on earth Maguire or Upamecano would go for 40M or Wan-Bissaka would go for 25M. Those both seem off by about a factor of 2 to me unless there is a reversal in the player market trend.

Agree with the sickle. Although most of the outs on my list are leaving anyway except Mkhi and Xhaka. I’d be ok keeping Mkhi and not going after Pellegrini but Xhaka needs to go in my view. I’d say my rationale is that we need young CBs as we have Sok and Kos to provide experience but no reliable young ones - who knows how Holding comes back from his knee injury. Doucoure / Torreira would be a solid MF and Under can provide backup as second striker. The positions we would still be short are backup for Laca and LB.

Jovic is out of reach already most likely. Barcelona have gotten in touch with his agent as local papers reported yesterday and today's Bild paper said that Madrid have placed an initial offer over 45m.

Wan Bissaka for €25m would be fine if we didn't already have Bellerin. Maguire for €40m would be nonsense.

I meant there is no way Palace, Leicester and Leipzig would ever sell for those prices. They would be far more expensive. For what it's worth, I like all of those players.

I'd hate to see us drop big money on Maguire, massively overrated. We need someone far more commanding.
