WOW. So it is rumored that one of Arsenal, Betis, Lyon or Sevilla put in a bid as high as 31m pounds. That’s a proper highlights package. The kind of player we need to disorganize defenses with his acceleration and footwork. I actually want two plays like this by next summer.

The only way we likely sign 2 is if we lose 1 or other of Lacazette or PEA.
May also depend on how Nelson shapes up on loan.

If there is no contract progress come Jan then sell both Rambo and Welbeck & look to sign Pepe from Lille.

If there is no improvement by Ozil sell him as well and look to sign Milincovic-Savic.

Goodness. I don't know what I want more urgently

defenders: high quality ten-year defenders like De Ligt/De Jong (each being eyed by Spurs, City)
midfielder: a proper CM like SMS, or a bet on Ndomebele
winger: so many - Bailey, Pepe, Isco, etc.

Klopp has shown us you can have it all. Sven has shown us you can toss out expired players like Giroud and Walcott. I do not think one in each category by next summer is beyond reach, with a few sales.

Ramsey, Chambers, Welbeck, Ospina, Elneny, etc. and even Xhaka can be considered for the De Ligt fund.

No, I mean by signing super high quality players. He's taken 2 years to build a quality squad. I think we can get there as well within 3 more transfer windows for Sven

Two reasons here
a) we typically don't buy players that will feed the outgoing pot. Mediocre youngsters and older players who will close out their prime years with us
b) we let contracts run down without firm rules. Ramsey should be at Roma by now.

There's no way Ramsey would ever go to Roma, at best we'd have pushed him out to another English club.

Anyway, is it really a bad thing? Rewind 6 years or so and there would have been outrage about us being a selling club if we topped a list like that. We could have easily cashed in on the likes of Bellerin and Sanchez to add £100m to the receipts column but, rightly or wrongly, we held on in an attempt to hold onto our best players and show some ambition.

I think its more of the fact that our best players are not as high in demand and our lousy players are sold on a cheap. Other clubs are doing better inflating their player price.

If we had Coutinho we could never sell him for 140m.

This. Ramsey should have been auctioned this summer (or even last summer) to Chelsea / Pool for 40-50M and should have re-invested in a proper wide player (Brandt / Lozano types).

Whilst AW wasn't adverse to selling to a PL club if he felt we were not in direct competition with (MC, MU, LFC),
he has seldom done so at a premium, let alone then re-invested directly into the squad.

In terms of player contracts he always said he prioritised keeping who we had and only looked to the market if we were unable to replace via an internal option - and usually after the initial player had been sold (not forgetting that he also refused to sign players if he didn't feel there was anyone suitable).

In this new style even Ozil can be added to the list of potential player sales along with anyone else who fails to adapt or step up.

There is nothing wrong with selling players. Barcelona sold Neymar. Then they bought Dembele and Coutinho. I am fine with selling Ramsey, but show me something that leaves me gape-mouthed like Arry Kane.
