No. Not yet at least.
How I see it is his game is yet to find itself, and we stand to gain more if and when it does, than we stand to lose in the interim while he adapts. Benching him only prolongs that adaptation period I feel.
The only persons/positions I would be seriously considering tinkering with is Cech/GK and Xhaka/center mid.
What happens to players who are retired or who don’t get called up for International duty? Do they stay at the club training or is it like a mini vacation?
I actually think the change in style for Ozil and Rambo in the new roles is tougher than that we saw when Cazorla converted to play as DLP.
IMO Ozil plays the attacking version of the new CAM better than Rambo because Ozil understands about supporting the ball and vacating the centre,Â
whereas Rambo is probably better at the press. Neither have got a handle on playing a reverse B2B role if the press doesn't work as both are used to looking to exploit space ahead of the ball to be available for the pass.
Ozil has done ok earlier in his career when playing from deeper on the pitch, he just needs to make the mental adaptation the instead of looking for space the ball will find him wide in the new style.
As such with PEA playing the wide attacking role on one side and Bellerin getting forward on the other we don't actually need a bona fide winger as such unless we change our shape to a 433.
