Gurgen, how good is Frenkie de Jong? Every football purist seems to be in love with him. I've only seen him twice, and he was playing centreback both times despite apparently being a midfielder, but I thought his skills were outrageous.

I've seen a few videos analysing his play from centre back and he's fantastic on the ball, plays like a proper libero. No idea what his actual defending is like though.

Very good on the ball but you have to take into account that he has not faced any serious opposition in the Eredivisie. It would be impossible to play this guy at centre back in the EPL, he would be murdered. De Ligt regularly spends the entire match defending 1-on-1 because De Jong is on an adventure further forward, and it works. That's the level we are talking about here. So I've never really seen De Jong defend or face any physical challenges. He would have to turn himself into Mascherano or switch to midfield abroad, so I'm curious to see if he can pull that off.

Isco seems to be unhappy at Real. We need technical players like him to play any sort of intricate football.

He would be head and shoulders above any other midfielder we have in terms of ability to dictate the tempo and help offensive ball transition.

There's a lot of rumours around Isco but I frankly don't see it happening. Would be a coup for sure.

It'd be a coup because he's so good but at the same time it'd be a lot of money on a player who wouldn't really fit the mould of what we need. Would you play him at AM with Ozil wide, vice versa or play him deep? We'd still need another defensive mid if we got him.

Yes, I’d have him straight through the middle while Ozil can figure out if he wants to be involved in the game or not from the wings preferably.

Isco is Real’s second best player, and their best player is near the end of his career. They would be mental to sell.
We would be stupid to ignore him if he is available though. I would spend the world for him. He’s a game changing player. The three of Isco, Ozil and Mkhitaryan behind Aubameyang gives us a great platform for entertainment and creativity. And then Ramsey and a hard man behind.

The 3 of them all lack goals though. If we could get Isco I think we should off load Ozil but given he's just signed a new deal that seems unrealistic. Well I suppose its about as unrealistic as us getting Isco anyway.

I think it would work with Isco on one side and a goalscorer like Fekir on the other. But like you said, won't happen.

G89 posted this in the other forum section. I'd forgotten all about Neves, but I really think we should go for him this summer before someone else picks him up. He's way too good for Wolves. We might be able to get him in for a decent fee too.
