Found it.

The practical effect of the above is that only a £4m increase in the wage bill for PL clubs per season will be permitted. If a PL club spends more than an additional £4m on wages from the previous season, the additional wage cost can only be funded by increased commercial revenues that the club has made during that same season. The below table sets out the defined amounts:

So, in fact, they can increase wages by more than 4m if their commercial revenue expands.

Which it has.

What Mirth said. It's to stop the Crystal Palace's of this world from bankrupting themselves. But with the new TV deal, that clause will be an afterthought

There's nothing to see. You're right that the clause exists, however there are provisions made for specifically instances like this.

It doesn't undermine or contradict the clause.

It would be utterly absurd to cap wages without taking into account the impact of legitimate revenue sources, particularly since wages are the single biggest expenditure that football clubs make

We can scoff at united throwing cash at a young prospect, but tbh that's what we should be doing too. Better than waiting 2-3 years in the hope a top striker becomes available who may be too expensive and/or interested in joining a another big club

That particular fee is nuts 😆

But the idea is we should be investing in young striking talent. It hasn't happened at all in the last few years. The academy has been producing duds in that area. If youre going to buy a giroud level guy, make it a policy to buy a top young striker at the same time

We don't have to go young. We already tried this. We just need to be adventurous and buy. One guy that few want is Higuain. Think about him for a second. Yesterday we watched Walcott fail miserably as a number 9. Again. That game would e gone differently with an actual striker (109 in 170 for Madrid) up front.

the equivalent for us with how much more money they are making than us would be about 20m on a martial and i don't see that as obscene considering 16m was spent on chambers.
