Pogba and Ramsey could work. Personally don't buy into the hype that a team needs a designated sitter. There's enough defensive awareness between the pair to work in harmony.

You'd be going for a traditional 90s midfield pairing then. I suspect the rise of the he dedicated sitter is partially linked to the rise of the attacking fullback. Against a team that sits back and takes it like Sunderland, Pogba-Ramsey could work; but it could be risky against a top counter-attacking team like Liverpool

He's a tough player, likes a duel, links defence to attack, moves the ball forward so well and he's two footed.

Rumours are your Gundogan is off to United. In a head-to-head, they will likely beat us out, even without Champions League football. They so need a midfielder, they'll be willing to pay the world

I'd be so disgusted if he ends up there, he's a complete midfielder.
With Arteta and Flamini shoving on in years he'd be a perfect addition to our line-up.

I think Gundogan is too over rated by a lot of people. At Dortmund he has always had a more defensive player next to him, so what makes anyone think he can be that defensive minded player? In effect, he is playing the same role at Dortmund as Ramsey, Wilshere and AOC is playing here. I certainly don't think he is a player we should pursue.

The German press seem to think Gundogan will go Madrid if he doesn't sign a new deal at Dortmund.

Gundogan is a quality player but as Rex says we have Ramsey and wilshere for that role.

I'd also worry about his fitness levels and ability to stay available.

I'd rather luis gustavo or Sami khedira

I would definately take Khedira, but i think we already have him in a slightly lesser extent in Flamini.

Given our needs to the best way to spend 50-70 mill would be to get a forward, a right back and a replacement for verm

Am I right in thinking that Toni Kroos only has a year left on his contract in the summer? I don't watch Bundesliga, but from what I've seen of Kroos/Gundogan against us and more generally in the Champions League - Kroos is the superior player and more suited to the job of partnering Ramsey.

Kroos was earth shatteringly good against us in the second half and I think he has the physique and intelligence to play a little deeper and more reserved. He won't be Patrick Vieira but I reckon he'd give us what Arteta does without the ball and then a lot more with it.

Hard to see Bayern letting him go though. Doubt he'd look to go either, the top Germans usually stay put at Bayern.

Kroos is a quality player no doubt but he played that way against us when we were a man light. He was having a shocker eleven v eleven

Still hoping Sagna won't go - it's just not right, maybe Wenger can convince Vermaelen to give us one more year as well? If they do go, replacing those two with like-for-like quality is going to take time and money. Fabianski's out of contract as well, so we'll need a keeper. Bloody Hell!

I wonder as well, if Wenger's serious about Sanogo, and it seems he is, how do you find game time for Giroud, Sanogo and an expensive new striker? Can't see us loaning out Sanogo next season or selling Giroud.
