i can see bit of a scrap for hummels among the english clubs. most of them could use a good cb

Yup Ronaldo and Messi will be at PSG because Madrid and Barcelona can't afford what PSG can pay.

Anyway, the issue is United can offer everything we can plus more arguably. The only thing we'd have in our favour is ze German contingent, Wenger and London. It's why United finishing out of the top 4 was important.

Everyone knows United are on a downward spiral, unless you're desperate you won't join them, especially under LVG.

What people need to remember is that United can basically offer an additional 1-2m pounds per week in salary to its playing staff relative to teams like PSG/Chelsea/Arsenal, while Barca and Real can still add another 1-2 million pounds per week over and above what United can do. PSG might be able to match big salaries for 2 or 3 players, but cannot match these teams across a starting line-up.

Not talking salary. Just look at the Deloitte money leagues. Real and Barca make serious bank. 1 million pounds a week is 50 million pounds a year. I feel Wenger's pain

Which also do not make sense because we are not bigger than United at all.

United have won more recently and can pay more and have a bigger rep than we do. LVG has as big a rep as Wenger. About all we have to offer is London. And Chelsea will be in for a centre half in the summer too.

Maybe we could get Marquinhos from PSG. Think he looks pretty good.

I think that's exactly why we need to make a big statement. Throw some serious money around, show everyone that we can compete for these kind of players. There's no point in pretending you're a top club if you don't back it up with your wallet. Guys like Özil and Sanchez aren't going to stick around if we pay them less than Chelsea and United pay their star players.

I agree Klaus. Obviously there is a bit of a balancing act we have to do because we can't afford to waste money the way United are now or get stuck with players on top wages who are past it like City but we have to be competitive throughout the squad.
