We need to do what Chelsea did with Courtois. Buy an extreme talent right away, someone like Simone Scuffet perhaps, and put him out to pasture somewhere. See if he'll sink or swim. Best case scenario we've got a top class keeper in a few years, which would be impossible to put a price on. Worst case scenario we've burnt £15 million or so that we probably would have pissed away anyway.
The Wishlist
That is definitely the kind of financial power we dont have, compared to Chelsea.
We have burning holes in our squad right now, which should be mended with that £15m.
Sell someone superfluous then. We've stacked up on plenty of players we don't really need all over the squad. We have two semi-decent strikers as backup to Giroud for instance, and none of the three are good enough to be long-term solutions. We've been playing the transfer game wrong for a while now.

Sterling is a pussy, dont want him.
Bundesliga is at least as physical as the PL. Quality is worse and there sooo many cloggers over there.

He has the versatity (and quality) we need from our forwards. But he's easy to hate because his hair, face, body language, personality are all douchey.

We already have one.
Exactly. The valuation of Sneezey is shocking here at times.
Decent at best.
Which goalkeepers were better than him last season in the PL? For me, it was only Cech.
Szczesny wasn't great last season. He was greatly protected by Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny and Ramsey who were defensively immense.
He was great at times. Played ever so well against England at Wemberley

Never thought I'd see the day that Wenger would buy so many ass players. He's bought a lot of known quantities in the past 5 years, unlike his left-field transfers that he excelled at.
It's weird alright. The three we have up front right now are good enough to be backups, but none of them are starting quality. Situation is the same in central midfield, on both fullback positions and in goal. We only have one good centreback too nowadays.
Apart from Chambers we don't have any obvious talents pushing through either. Maybe there's Bellerin, but he's seemingly years away. Whatever happened to our talent scouting? It's like we only buy two types of players: the very expensive ones and squad fillers. We've cranked up the spending a bit but we're still getting half of the equation wrong.
I think after the 2011 collapse Wenger started going with more solid veterans - Mertesacker, Arteta, Cazorla, Podolski types who have stabilized the squad and helped our mentality but leave us without the top talent needed to challenge for major honors. I think it was a good move in certain respects but we're in a new phase now, so buying somebody like Debuchy who is experienced but above-average at best is disappointing. We can afford to be more proactive in the transfer market than we are right now.
I also think that French/West African football has declined and there's fewer diamonds in the rough to be had, at least from the sources where Wenger and his scouts used to find them.

Why do you have to talk about last season? He was about Lloris standard last season, great at times, average at times. I do rate him and feels fortunate we do not have a clown like Almunia in goal now, but as compared to people like Courtois and De Gea, I do get abit envious too.
Anyway, point stands. There isn't much better out there we can upgrade him with and he isn't a big problem either. Of course Klaus' idea of signing a wonderkid keeper and loaning him out is the perfect solution, but not sure we have the cash to do that.

I wonder of part if is wenger knowing lots of change is needed yet too much change in one go is a big risk
Martin Ødegaard is coming to train with us and have a trial! Us and several other clubs, but whatever.
plz Wenger
It would be so awesome. Although he's visited Liverpool, Real Madrid and Ajax already. And he is a Liverpool supporter.
Real Madrid have already made an offer for him.
Meh.
