TBH I don't think that's his role.
I think both Wanyama and Song were supposed to primarily play as supporting ball winners between 2 playmakers, rather than being the deepest/ holding CMd/DM, but could do so when required against stronger teams.
Essentially we've replaced Song's role as ball winner with Rambo as an attack minded B2B player, and Flamini as another defensive ball winner who doesn't go as far forward or as often.
