I know it's probably rubbish, but I would be delighted if we sign Howedes. Been a long time admirer of him. Leadership, experience, versatility all there.

Still hoping for us to make a surprise move for Cavani.

Not keen on a potential Höwedes-Mertesacker CB pairing. Too slow.

Both very smart defenders though. They could make it work.

They probably would against 90 % of the teams we'll face but against the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea we would be screwed. We would have to drop the high line with a central defensive axis of Mertesacker, Höwedes and Arteta.

Howedes would be a very good addition. I'm surprised he's only 26.

Rojo has handed in a transfer request to go to United. 16m pounds the fee reported. He will be a really good signing, but sure why we ain't in for him.

Sevilla also accepted a 12m pound bid for Moreno from Liverpool. I really rate that guy, considering we bought Monreal for about 10m, Moreno is so much younger and better.

Because its simply impossible to buy every player on the market that our competitors are buying?

There are no drastic differences in quality to Moreno and Monreal or Rojo and Manolas.

No real reason to be envious of Rojo or Moreno IMO. We do need to fill out our squad though.

Anybody know much about Hector Moreno (Moreno apropos)? Mexican CB who looked good at the WC and plays for Espanyol.

Rojo can cover LB as well though as opposed to Manolas, but then again Manolas is half the price quoted and no 3rd party ownership issues.

Hector Moreno is a really good player. Surprised he is still at Espanyol. Mexico would never have lost to Netherlands had he still been on the pitch

I'd say we are better equipped to sit deep and pick teams off with mad counters now

Assuming Chambers is nailed on as a CB for this season at least, and Bellerin is considered ready to provide depth at RB:

Manolas, or other young talented CB
Bender, or other athletic, intelligent and tidy DM
Fimino, Icardi or other young talented ST

Switch to 4-3-1-2 to get Wilshere, Ramsey and Ozil on the pitch at the same time and in their favoured positions, and allow players like Sanchez, Theo, Podolski and even Campbell to play upfront with a partner.
