We have £40m. Doubt Wenger would pay that for a defender though.

Aye, I'm not against signing him. But if we really are willing to part with another £40 million this summer we should lump it on an attacking player. We really need more match winners.

Agree. Also find it hard to believe that Wenger would buy someone of Martinez's pedigree after giving Arteta the captaincy.

True. A frontline with say Reus and Sanchez fed by Ozil and supported by Ramsey will allow us to hold back our other midfielder and even full backs ensuring we don't concede on the counter.

Our biggest failing has been lack of individual ability in the frontline. The kind of football we play means that without such ability we are forced to attack with a lot of players and with a high line. It makes us very susceptible to the counter. We could get by with Wilshere / Arteta as the deepest midfielder if we buy another top class forward.

If we can't get the high profile defensive midfielder we are all looking for, wouldn't mind trying to nick either Christoph Kramer or Granit Xhaka - both good young prospects. Obviously, very different players, so we will need to adjust accordingly, but either would be good and can adapt in a season or so to take over from Arteta.

I'd be happy with someone who can gradually take over from Arteta, another Chambers like signing for defensive midfield.

I really think that James McCarthy would be a good, astute signing. Don't think Everton would let him go though.

Yep he'd be good though probs still a prospect. Think that position more than any other calls for experience

If we can't bring in someone like Khedira, Reus or Martinez, I'd be happy with Manolas and Rabiot.

The same players we had last season are well capable of scoring more than they did, they just didnt perform at their best. And we have 3 direct dribblers in the squad now, it's safe to say we'll be getting a lot more penalties this season.

We don't need to add more in attack. What we need is for the multitude of talented players we have to be better than they ever have. And that's what we have Wenger for and pay him the big bucks.
