For what it's worth, I'm not sure he would be the answer to our CF problems but he's a good player who should be available and I don't think we will (or necessarily should) get a player on the wings blocking Wilshere and/or Chamberlain.

Agüero is a bit unique though. You had Romario with a similar frame (and currently Messi I suppose) but generally strikers don't succeed that small at top level, especially not in England. All of them were shaped into strikers from a very young age too.

The Sanchez I saw at Udinese, which is the best version of him I've seen to date, loved to play behind a striker where he could tear teams apart with his pace and dribbling. He's not a physical player, a linkup player or a born goalscorer. He's more of a force of nature. You set up the ideal tactics and then you just unleash him. I personally love that kind of footballer, but they need a very particular environment to succeed. It took him three seasons to adapt to the wing at Barca. You gotta ask yourself if it's realistic to expect him to learn how to play up front the year he's turning 26.

Warming to the idea of Balotelli. He seems the be the most 'individualistic' player of all the strikers in discussion.

I agree although I think Benzema is a 'nutcase' is a bit excessive. He'll never have the mentality to make the most of his skill level but he would do very well under Wenger. Balotelli is the real risk.

Arsenal fans have to root like hell for Atletico in the CL final. No chance Benz leaves if Real wins IMO.

When we learn of the extent of FFP (specifically the wage caps for the CL) we'll see if there's any chance at Cavani. I think PSG can live with that sponsorship being halved.

I'm with Klaus. It's not easy gambling and making a superstar otherwise everyone would do it. We're at a level where we need to buy the best available to us.

The smart money is on them selling the expensive centreforward who is unhappy about being played on the wing, where he's not really all that great for them anyway. Ibrahimovic probably has another 4 years left in the tank. Cavani can't afford to sit around and wait for his chance. I think PSG will recognise this. When has Wenger ever dealt with anyone like Balotelli? He tends to get rid of lads like that when they are young or he avoids them altogether. Definitely not the sort of player Wenger likes to bring into his squads. He likes smart, professional types.

Di Maria is class, but I'm not sure £30m + on another attacking midfielder is the way to go. Doubt Madrid will sell him anyway.

He doesn't score enough anyway. I think the bloke is world class on his day but there's an obvious problem with putting him and Özil in the same team unless that team also contains Ronaldo. Together they constitute half of the attack but they will only provide you with 8 or 9 league goals in a season. They create bucketloads in return of course, but what we need right now is goalscorers. One out wide, one up front. The wide player might very well turn out to be Wilshere or Chamberlain; I would support a gamble on their potential unless we can get our hands on Reus or El Shaarawy.

PSG non-HG players: Sirigu, Silva, Marquinhos, Maxwell, van der Wiel, Motta, Verratti, Pastore, Lucas, Lavezzi, Cavani, Ibrahimovic

They're apparently signing Alves while at the very least Pastore is on his way out. That leaves them at 12 non-homegrowns and there are further names that could be cut before Cavani. I think any decision to sell would be financial (esp. CL wage bill) and/or related to Cavani pushing to leave rather than squad caps.

Wenger just has to go for it though. We can't be the Traveling Aaron Ramsey Show if we want to win a title. PSG will take a £50m bid seriously and that's within our means.

Pedro > El Shaarawy & Reus imo.

Personally consider Pedro a worse player than Reus albeit more efficient than El Shaarawy. Suspect that will change once the Italian fully recovers from his injuries and continues his development though.

LB isn't a problem position per se, but I'd love to upgrade it. Gibbs and Monreal are so meh.
