No any decent haul requires Giroud not to be in our first 11

I think you drop Giroud only if you get both a top striker and a top AM who scores (Muller, Pedro, Dula's Reus, Vela etc).
If we get only a striker, I really think we need to start thinking about playing Giroud + new striker particularly if that striker is a mobile type like Benzema. This team doesn't have goals. I trust only Giroud and Ramsey to punch the ole onion bag. That's not enough

No chance of playing 2 strikers. You play 2 strikers and Ozil (who is undroppable) and you need 2 players doing defensive work for the complete lack of tracking back the front three will provide. What that means is that you'll have little width in the squad because there isn't room for 2 wingers. Giroud playing with another means he'd also be dropping into deeper spaces and taking up Ozil's place. Giroud has no business being in the starting eleven if we want to compete for the league. Simply put you can win most matches against the bottom half like we did but it's like playing with 10 men against anybody decent. Forget not scoring this guy is just invisible against decent teams.

Liverpool can play Coutinho, Suarez and Sturridge in one team. What stops us from playing Ozil, Giroud and Benzema together?

Without another scorer up there, Ozil is actually a bit of a luxury. Why? Because you have a guy who can create better than most, but has nobody to create for

Because Suarez & Sturridge are both very capable of drifting out wide and doing damage from there. Giroud at times struggles to do any damage from the middle let alone out wide!

Giroud is fine down the centre with two of Ramsey/Walcott/Ozil around to help him. It's when he has lumps like Cazorla passing backwards that he's ineffective. Yes, he's dependent on other players to be great. But he can definitely play with another striker. Let that striker do the drifting

You've just answered your own question. With those two up top and Ozil behind Giroud won't have anyone making those runs beyond to help him. Suarez and Sturrdige don't need that, Giroud, Benzema and Ozil do.

Girouds done plenty in just the last few weeks when he's drifted wide. Off the top of my head that great goal last week where he cut inside and crossed it in to Ramsey who chested it down and Podolski scored. His ability out wide isn't the problem or the difference between Liverpools forwards, its mostly just pace. He's not quick enough to go wide often. And TBH who wants that anyway? We need our CF in the box.

Hopefully our new striker will stay central and be better able to play off the shoulder and beat a man. They're the things holding Giroud back from being at a level we need as our main striker.

We need goals, and that's what Giroud does. He can do a Dzeko-esque role.

Giroud is shit. Not only does he lack pace and his finishing is lacking; he is horrible off the ball as well. Lazy and clueless. Jogs around up front without any real purpose; he is rarely a good passing option for the rest of our players. He shouldn't be anywhere near our first team next season. Down right mediocre player who is made to look at times ok when the rest of our team plays well.

He can go out wide but you need to be quick and a good dribbler to out if you want to effective from wide positions and he is neither. The other thing is only point drifting out there if your wide players will then come in and be able to make a difference there. Without Theo we've not really had that this season. Though I think Giroud would do fine if we had Ramsey & two quick wide players around him, not ideal as those players would mask his deficiencies but I think he'd find it easier to play. It helps in a 3 man strike force if the players can interchange when required.

Giroud is the only reliable scorer on this team. You better have a significant upgrade on him if you are going to send him to the bench (e.g., Suarez, Costa; or Benzema + Reus). Otherwise, keep him in the line-up

I expect:

Walcott, Podolski, Giroud, new striker to be our strike force next season. Depending on opposition two of those need to be on the pitch at the same time.

Which is exactly what we should be doing this summer.

Replacing Giroud is probably the easiest task this summer. Plenty of strikers out there who are both available and much better than him.

Have the CM closest to the FB provide help for him defensively instead of the winger as we do now. The midfield 3 to minimize space between themselves and the back 4. Use the dynamism of Ramsey to join in attack. Fullbacks, one at a time, to provide width in attacks. When Walcott is properly back he takes Vela's spot.

A positive with this formation is that Podolski can play as a striker, because he will have a partner, and Giroud can play with either Vela, Walcott, and at a stretch Podolski. Always have a target man, always have a mobile player with pace up front.

If we can't get Martinez, then get Schneiderlin instead.

i'm not holding my breath. it's what i would do, but given the scarcity of these resources...

So many strikers out there both available and better than Giroud. Would be criminal going into the next season with Giroud as our first choice up front. Worst first choice striker at Arsenal in 20 years.

That's a sexy lineup that is reasonably attainable and not based in fantasy formation. Like your points about Giroud/Podolski being able to slot in.
