Quite possibly because we had not planned on signing a midfielder but injury setbacks now dictate that we do?

Because it seems quite definite that Wenger doesnt want more competition in midfield, just finding a stop-gap until Ramsey is back.

It's obviously a stop gap, don't think Wenger has any intention of buying a proper centre mid either now or in the summer.

It's the wrong approach. You bring in good players in the event you need to play them, not poor ones and hope they never get a start.

This is about Arsenal not wanting to spend money and nothing else. Our best player is out and the free squad filler we signed in the summer got himself suspended so we bring in an even worse squad filler on loan just in case. Meanwhile Chelsea and City have each spent somewhere in the region of £30 million to strengthen their midfields.

We're massively stocked in attacking midfielders, but we could have done with a defensive player who is physically strong and can track back at pace to phase out one of Mikel/Flamini. Matuidi/Schneiderlin are good options in that mould, if what Veysey says is true.

Getting Klose would be interesting to see. Dunno how he'd adapt to the league, though.
