To be fair, I'd guess there's something more to it than you're suggesting, Tim - Wenger has made the point numerous times, but I saw him make it a couple of seasons back in a press conference to a journalist that said figures showed our wage bill wasn't dissimilar to United, City and Chelsea. Wenger basically said to the guy 'use your brain, do you really think our wage bill is anything like as big as theirs? It's that we are very transparent with ours and they are not'. Given the bullshit creative accounting we've seen from the likes of Chelsea, City, PSG and others in recent years to circumvent the FFP rules, or at United with the whole DHL deal (I think it was) in relation to their share prices, it would hardly be surprising if their wage bills were not telling the whole truth.
