Salah will go on to be a top player, absolutely sure about it. Have everything in his locker.

Liverpool must be livid that they missed out on him, tracked him whole summer and Chelsea steal him straight in.

Surprised we ain't even linked with him, given that we are lacking a pure winger like him.

Wenger doesn't do 'pure wingers'.

Like the maverick geoffarsenal that I am, I have connections in Basle. He has been linked away for a while now and they're not that bothered. Or, at least, they claim he's flakey. If any young player moves to Chelsea, they'd better have hazard levels of talent or they'll rot on the sidelines.

No they had agreed to let him go but they hadn't agreed on a loan fee.

If a rival club came in and offered 1-2m loan for a player like Podolski would Wenger say yeah? He probably wouldn't. If they came in and stumped up 25-30m for him he'd be gone. Same with Mata.

Ba at the time imo was their forth choice striker behind Torres, Eto'o & Lukaku and will probably barely scrape 10 starts for them in the league so there is a difference. They only loaned out Lukaku when they decided not to halt the Ba deal and I don't know if it is right but Mourinho supposedly said he wouldn't loan him to us after we got Ozil.

Of course we could of offered them more but the people at the club are there to make the right calls and not just go and sign players no matter what anyone asks.

So he gets rid of the less physical Mata, to replace him with the pacey Salah. Makes sense in Mourinho world but won't reflect in reality. They have weakened themselves considerably. Which is a good thing of course. Chelsea fans must be livid.

Mourinho is pulling a classic nose-cutting, face-spiting move here.
Just incredible really. Mata was considered a Premier League top 3 before Mourinho arrived with his bitter ways. I'm happy for Mata because he is one of the rival players I genuinely enjoy watching along with Suarez

i guess salah doesn't know abramovich is jewish.

A left footed player playing on the right doesn't sound like a pure winger.

End of the day Mata doesn't fit his system so makes sense to let him go. Mata when he has played hasn't exactly been great and Mourinho prefers plays who will track back.

Dunno whether his motives are more sinister or he is letting him join man utd because they can rinse them as others haven't shown interest.

Spot on there Jazz , one would think Chelsea have come out better with the Mata/Salah swap. First off they have gotten a ridiculous amount of money ( £37m) for player who is merely a backup given the manager's tactics. They have then basically replaced a backup with someone very good but with different attributes for £11m . Basically a swap or 'reserve' players for a cool £26m profit in one go , with the added bonus of giving United a chance to take points off title rivals. Mata is also cup-tied in the UCL .

Ben Smith ‏@BenSmithBBC 3m
Salah may not be the last one in the door at #CFC. Busy at the Bridge

Why sign Griezmann and Salah in January after signing Schuerrle six months ago? Fuck Chelsea.

We shouldnt allow Griezzman to go to Chelsea, Wenger should make a few calls.

Would prefer Draxler to Griezmann.

Do you follow the Swiss the league? I have only seen Salah in the Europa league, so can't say how good he is, but from I have heard from people who do watch him often he's a very inconsistent player.

£37m is a ridiculous amount for Mata? To all those who agree with this, what do you think is Mata's current market value? Mind you Chelsea bought him for around £24m 2 years ago and has been Chelsea's best player in those 2 years. A cowardly manager comes in and refuses to play him because he hasn't got the balls to play attacking players who don't run up and down for him like maniacs. He got 20 goals and 35 assists (yes, 35 direct assists) for them last year, and was generally considered one of the top players in the league. At a time when the likes of Lamela, Soldado, Willian etc are all going for £30m, and we are even rumoured to be paying £38 for Draxler (an unproven kid, albeit a very talented one), is £37m really ridiculous for Mata?

I have do doubt Liverpool for example would be willing to pay that when they sell Suarez for £60-70m in the summer.

Yeah same here.
