Could be a positive, weakening of a direct title rival. Either way Mourinho will lose a lot of credibility if Mata goes United.
Sky reporting that the Mata deal might be closer than "we think". Not sure if that's in terms of hours or days, they didn't bother with that kind of detail.

We've got Ozil and Santi who aren't great defensively + 2 very offensive minded CMs in Wilshere and Ramsey, but we seem to be coping fine.
Makes sense that Moyes would go for Mata. He always had the likes of Arteta,Pienaar, Osman at Everton. Think he mostly played them wide too.
If it's close to 40m then he's spent a shit load of money in a short time.

No, cos they're already getting ripped apart in centre midfield, and Mata is even weaker defensively than the likes of Young and especially Valencia.
Ramsey covers one of the highest distances over 90 minutes and has a number of tackles etc.
When wilshere and ramsey play either one of them is usually on the wing...Usually wilshere so ramsey who doeas a lot of work defensively plus another defense specialist in arteta/flamini. This along with a very cohesive defence which united don't have.
Shame Mata is behaving relatively well and not distracting maureen.

That is nothing new, midtable teams used to dominate them in midfield at home even when Fergie was in charge. Bringing in Mata for one of the jokers out wide is hardly going to change anything in that regard. Ronaldo (who was also weak defensively) used to occupy that same spot Mata will likely occupy not too long ago.

Mata was Chelsea's best player for two years. He has very good assist and goals stats.

Because we're 14 points above them and have a better player in Özil.
