I don't see why people are so upset? He's not great right now, but there's not exactly a large market of available strikers. Berbatov isn't coming in to be the man- we need numbers up front, and it'll be nice to know that there's someone quasi competent to come in if giroud crocks

I think the Bendtner Giroud injuries have spooked him, just as Gibbs' injury may have pushed him to get Monreal last January.

berba doesnt strike me as being goal hungry these days. he plays with the intensity of a retiree. and he likes being on the ball, so he'll have to adjust to playing like a traditional cf to avoid getting in the way of our creative mids. berba as a stop gap isnt the worst option until the summer.

Berbatov has done it in the league before - don't think he's such a bad option to spell Giroud once in a while, and then be 3rd choice next season. Aspects of his game are actually better than Giroud anyways.

Perhaps not ideal, but we were never signing Diego Costa et al in january.

Good news if true, I suppose. I've been vaguely pro the possibility of Berbatov. You couldn't bank on it being a smart move, but you couldn't bank on a lot of the names that have been tossed around.

He's been embarrassingly shit for long stretches of his career but he's got class, and this would be a golden opportunity to play a part in a league campaign for him. We have the players to create decent chances so he wouldn't have to make goals on his own.

IMO we will sign an attacker of some sort. Could be anyone of Pato, berbatov, vucinic or even someone like Costa. Maybe also a CM though that seems more complicated unless we decide to pay watever Newcastle want for Cabaye.
