Blatter's Switzerland and Platini's France in a piss easy group with Honduras and Ecuador...

Hope Argentina win it, and they have a very good chance if Messi, Aguero, and Di Maria are fit.

The most exciting bit was when the presenter dropped the ball and I thought they'd do a close up of her bending down to pick it up.

Clarence, you don't think any African team will make it out of the group? When was the last time that happened?

You have a point but on paper, can't see any of them getting out.

I pretty much agree with your predictions Clarry, except I can't see Bosnia or Russia getting out.
Surely the climate would be against them too much.

Korea needs to finish ahead of Russia or Algeria - definitely doable. Then we get to face either Germany or Portugal, so a quick exit then.

USA is screwed, which is awesome.

Nightmare draw for England. Hard to see us even getting a point from that group let alone getting through. If we can somehow scrape through though it does look a decent 2nd round draw, regardless of whether we come first or second. I imagine we'll get ripped apart by Suarez and co, but if we can hold Italy as we did at the Euros and beat Costa Rica, maybe 4 points will be enough if Italy don't beat Uruguay. It's a shame Costa Rica are last instead of first as being the only one we're like to win it would have been great to get off to a good start and see Italy and Uruguay draw. Instead we'll probably already be out when we play them.

I know you are English but for some reason when I read this I thought you were talking about New Zealand 😆 Almost went to look at the groups again to be certain New Zealand isn't in the World Cup.

😆

If they had beaten Mexico they'd be in the group with Brazil. 😆

Nah. The law is England and Italy struggle but always get through the group stage.
Quarter-finals is our limit though and semis for jammy Italy.
Usually pick Brazil or some African/Asian second team with Holland as a third but will now support Germany instead.

Portugal and Ghana are beatable.
Even Germany may struggle in the heat.

Australia are worst off, which is surprisingly satisfying. 😆

True, no matter how crap England are at the time, we usually do seem to find a way to scrape through the group, even when not expected to like 2002, 2004 and 2012 for instance. Then get knocked out by the first big side. Trouble is this time it's 2 of the big sides in the group.

Don't worry invis, root and bell will win it for England :p

I'd be very surprised if he chose Ivory Coast over Germany.

Australia will be lucky to finish fourth in that group but won't be as bad as most people think. Our new coach will instill enthusiasm and he is a good tactician. Aussies don't usually give up and will fight. We also have some speed again, but we don't have a great striker. Our plan will be to stay in it until about 70 minutes then bring Tim Cahill on and try to get corners. Trouble with Cahill is he doesn't fit into a 4231; he's more a second striker in a 4411.

Anyhoo - the prediction spreadsheets are here already for you to play with and set up tipping comps.
