Koscielny? What leads you to that opinion?

I think one thing is certain and that is with Modric/VdV as opposition, we need to pressurise more earnestly.

The fact that Djourou/Squillaci has been our best partnership so far this season. Easily as well.

I'd agree with that. Would be very unfair to drop him after his performance at Goodison in any case.

By the way Don - Djourou is only 23.

Yeah, I was convinced that he was younger than 26 but I read somewhere today that he was 26. Must have been a typo though as I've checked wiki and he is in fact 23.

I'd definitely go with Squillaci and Djourou. They compliment each other very well. Not sold on Koscielny yet. Obviously talented, but hasnt displayed it consistently.

This is sort of an easy pick in my eyes..

Flappy

Sagna
Squillaci
Djourou
Clichy

Song
Denilson
Cesc

Theo
Chamakh
Arshavin

Subs: Sneezy, Gibbs, Koscielny, Wilshere, RvP, Nasri, Bendy (the bench is a bigger concern since that would still leave players like Eboue, Vela, Rosicky in the lurch)

who would have thought that we would have too many "quality" players to fit on the bench (realistic subs with experience).. guess we should see who's still available after the midweek internationals...

Nasri benched? Reaaaaally?

Nasri has to start. It would be great to bring on Walcott in the second half and stretch them to pieces when they're tired though.

I think, what Klaus meant was that the FA didn't deem our appeal frivolous and as such the initial 1+1 game ban stood, without an extra game added to that punishment.

Yeah, I didn't explain it very well but that's what I meant. I thought Pepe was referring to the fact that Kos didn't serve a three-match ban despite the appeal falling through. Usually The FA extends the ban an extra game if they consider the claim to be frivolous. Such was the case with Ferdinand last season for example.

Walcott will get injured on weds anyway

And the rest...

It's usually the players in good form so prime suspects are Nasri, Sagna and Fabianski.

Dear world,

Please do not let Sagna get injured on international duty this week. I know he doesn't get injured very often and I am so very grateful for that, but please don't let this be the time it happens. You see, there is this guy named Bale. I think he is somewhat overrated and I know Sagna can handle him just fine. But you see world, there is this other player named Eboue. He's funny and seems like a light-hearted fellow and I like that about him. But you see, Eboue for all of his fun is a rather poor defender and while I don't think Bale is as good as the English press seems to believe, I think he would be pretty dangerous playing against an empty flank while Eboue runs into a corner in the opposing 18-yard box.

I am willing to give up video games and study extra hard before Saturday in return. I will even eat salad with my dinner every night. Just please, let Sagna come home safely.

Sincerely yours,
Dave

...after such a good weekend, you know the footballing gods are bound to turn on us

I will also eat salad with my dinner every night. Heck I should be doing that anyway 😃

According to Matt Barlow Jacks pulled out of the England squad.

...and it begins.

Let's hope it's nothing serious. At the very least, it's comforting that we have Rosicky in reserve (at least for the timebeing).

Capello has just said in his conference that he won't play.

Jack put on his twitter after the Everton game that he was taken off at half time as he got a knock.

At least Denilson has been doing a good job when he's come in for him.

Gibbs starts for England.

and Jack has been withdrawn from the team even before the training session (apparent injury, but no one knows what yet)

Arshavin travels to Russia. Russia's coach is Dick, because of which he may play three quarters of the game seeing that Dick wasn't too amused by Wenger complaining about this round of internationals.

I don't think Arshavin should start after a long trip to Russia if he plays more than a half of football.
