I agree and also think Spain's WC chances are greatly improved with him choosing them.

Looking from Costa's perspective it is difficult to see his motivation for leaving this January unless he is offered significantly higher wages.

Which he would considering he's coming for such a high price. He's on very low wages at Atletico Madrid - between 15k to 25k from what I've read. We could give him 100k or more easily.
Ok, let us say that we could actually get him to want to come here, but how on earth would we get Atletico Madrid to want to sell him?
This has got to be one of the more ridiculous rumours. He's key to the fact they're sitting second in La Liga and yet they're going to sell him in January? It'd be unforgivable for the fans.
We sold Cesc, admittedly not in January, but he still had years on his contract. Sold the geezer at below market value as well.
Think Costa has Arsenal DNA?
What Burnsy says. If Barcelona falters, Atletico win this league. Why sell the guy who can bring you the title? It's madness. They're tied for top in the league. This and the Suarez rumour just need to end. Anyone who brings these up needs to be put in a sack of potatoes and have anvils tossed at them.
Don't think Costa will move in January.
The only slightly possible super super quality target is Falcao, which is highly unrealistic due to his 300k per week wages.
Lewandowski is another candidate, Dortmund may be willing to do business just to ensure that he doesn't go to Bayern, not sure the player would be interested though.
Still think Pato would be a bit of a bargain personally, could be a stroke of genius if he gets his act together.
Dortmund will 100 percent look to sell him abroad in January, probably even at a very reasonable price. They made a real power play by keeping him last summer, but they are not financially in a position to just throw away money. Then it comes to convincing the player, and that will be the real hurdle to pass.
I'd say he is our best chance of getting a top class striker in January despite that though. We certainly have a few things going for us which should at least make him think about it.
We need chez to start talking with him
And Podolski.

Release clause.

I think we can forget about Lewa. He's all but a Bayern player sadly.
How many strikers can Bayern keep happy, if Lewandowski is guaranteed first choice?
Apart from Mandzukic the rest are squad players. Pizarro is probably gonna move on. Shouldn't be a problem?
Wasn't Gotze playing as a false 9 for a while?
Their squad is truly massive, don't think anyone really cares though, so long as they continue to pick up a few medals at the end of the season.
Can we relieve the of the Mandeezoll then?
I really think Michu is the answer in january. We were linked with him again the other day: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/swanseas-michu-opens-door-potential-2929219
He hasn't played as a striker lately and he's been injured a lot but the lad can play, he knows how to score and he's done it in Premier League. Every time I've seen him this season he's been quality. His movement off the ball is wonderful and would be put to great use here. Anything in the region of £20 million would be good business imo.
Cavani. Pretty please.
Michu is such a lumbering, cart horse of a footballer.
