And yet the Daily Mail puts a photo of Pearce screaming mindlessly at someone in a montage of "English spirit" for its campaign to turn Wilshere into a nationalist talisman (along with Bryan Robson and Paul Gascoigne).

In a football sense the gap between Pearce and Wilshere couldn't be wider ...
