Anelka was brought for a pittance at 17. Bergkamp was world class player with more than 100 goals. Wenger personally knew what Henry was capable of having worked with him for 3 years and he was a world cup winner at the time. You're isolating one sentence out of the entire para. Balotelli is scoring less goals from open play than Giroud. Balotelli is a nutcase. Balotelli costs a lot of money.

He's played for City and Inter earlier when they were the best teams and he wasn't scoring much then too.

Can't even outscore Giroud from open play. I think that says it all really.

I think this is where actually watching Balotelli play helps a lot. No comparison between him and Giroud as a footballer, I feel embarrassed having Giroud's name in the same post as Balotelli.

I don't particularly like Giroud at all if you've seen my posts in the Arsenal section. I don't particularly care to watch Serie however I have seen Balotelli at City. The team needs a player who can score regularly and Balotelli doesn't score enough nor do I like his work rate and nor do I like the fact that he can completely upset the dressing room and I certainly don't like spending a lot of money to see that happen.

The point in getting another striker is one who gets goals regularly not one who scores less than what we have. He might be great in terms of footballing talent but we have a lot of talents playing here who would be better served supplemented by a player who scores.

Balotelli's goals+assists ratio per minute at City was very good. Again, victim of playing for a rubbish manager. Just compare Nasri's performances under Pellegrini to the way he played for Mancini.

He's played 8 seasons at the top level. I don't see unfortunate circumstances as the reason for him not scoring many in at least one of those.

The fact that Ozil is a worse finisher than Giroud is another story altogether...
