Any one thing this is Wenger trying to go out on a high?
Wenger's extension
Thought had crossed my mind, but although he's an unusual character, I think if he does get some silverware this season he'll want to coach on.
He is staying regardless. I have been certain of it since I heard his thoughts on Fungus retirement.
Özil is a brilliant signing, but let us not pretend he has done enough this summer with the vast resources at the club's disposal. We always needed a better striker, and we could have well afforded it on top of signing the best number 10 in the world.
If we win somehow manage to win the PL or CL he can stay. Else it's time to go. Discuss only at the end of the season.
I agree with Rex- He's not going anywhere.
Allowing for inflation he's this years Arshavin.
With our tiny squad forget about cups but good luck to the kids anyway, but we should secure the Prize.
You fellas have your Ozil I got my Flamini so everyone's a winner, err except those that wanted scum like Suarez or Rooney.
Rooney in this squad and we would walk the league.
The question of whether he will stay is obviously separate to the question of whether anyone wants him to. I think we're all aware of that after the past few years.
Anyway, I definitely agree that he's 90% likely to stay. I believe only an unusual failure (as opposed to more of the same, or a trophy) would see him walk at his current age.
The 3rd highest paid football manager in world, an incompetent who has to achieve fuck all- Why would be want to go anywhere else?
Best gig in the world.
I'm hoping he signs off on a high.
I don't care so long as he signs off.

if he does I'm sure you'd prefer it to be on a high. Perhaps a little bit champions league?
anyone else having trouble voting?
Might be your theme Kami.
I think Tim was going to fix a minor bug where one or two of the themes impaired some forum functions.
thanks, that did the trick. switched back though, i like the default theme best.
wenger's last hurrah this season i hope. get someone in with the right resume who will command respect from the squad.
He still left us a little short. He said 2 or 3 top top top quality players. But he only delivered arguably 1 on the last day (I really don't count Viviano as one).
I am delighted with Ozil, over the moon, but we need to put a little perspective.
With you Clrnc as I still feel we're too thin to compete across multiple fronts. Need a few more quality players to ensure we make the most of both the CC and FA Cups through proper squad rotation. Instead we'll field a tired starting xi with Verm/monreal/jenko and run giroud/theo into the ground.
For me, the most likely scenario is that he'll get a two year extension then retire.
In my opinion, still one of the best managers in world football, so I don't mind him staying.
He has failed abjectly in the last few transfer windows, letting go of players when he should have put up a bit more of a fight and not buying adequately. Even in this window he has sold himself short but the Ozil signing signals intent and change in policy hopefully.
As long as Wenger gives himself the tools he will still be the top man for this job for me. It will be interesting to see what he does in January. We will need reinforcements without a doubt so it will be a test again of how far he is willing to go. If he reverts to his recruit from within policy if things get tough then it's time to say bye indeed.
I agree with Qs, needs to be adequately replaced if he goes. Top players respect him and want to play for him still. I have voted yes now.
I really hope we can somehow survive with our threadbare squad till January and make reinforcements. But then again isn't Jan extremely difficult to buy?
