One reason why Bergkamp could be thought of as a bigger deal than Sol was without thinking solely about how famous they were, or how desired by other clubs - Bergkamp came at a time when we were languishing in the league (no St Totteringham's Day), our talismanic manager had departed in disgrace, and the man who replaced him wasn't thought of too highly.
Sol came when the Wenger era was established, when we'd changed from Graham's Arsenal to the best footballing side in the league, and when we were already recognised as title contenders.
One transformed, the other strengthened. One graced the league, the other dominated it.
