It's really too early to say how his Italian adventure is going to work out. Could go to pieces mentally at Roma too if he has a bad spell of matches and starts getting stick.

Those were two nice goals. Showing some confidence for once

5 days later

Totti puts Roma in the lead at San Siro vs Inter. Accurate shot in the bottom corner after a Gervais pass.

Totti with a screamer. Gervinho is on fire - commentators are creaming themselves and the Inter defenders are terrified.

Inter almost equalized. Guarin with a rocket which hits the post. De sanctis had no chance to save that.
That guy can shoot.

Gervinho now beats two guys and wins the penalty. Totti scores.

Great counter by Roma and Florenzi scores the third.

Still can't beat the keeper 1v1 though...

7 wins from 7 games now. Great start for Garcia's Roma.

Strootman is going to develop into a beast of a midfielder IMO!

Tactically astute, blessed with physical qualities(height, power, good pace etc), and can pull off Xabi Alonso like forward passes.

Too bad we didn't sign him in the summer.

Gervinho + Totti....few players more different 😆

Just goes to show that even heavily flawed players can be weapons when used to their maximum. Bit like Theo really.

Rudi Garcia is doing an amazing job.

Gervinho is easily one of Serie A's best player this season. If he hasn't played for us a lot of people would be wishlisting him now. Yet another immense performance. Who would have thought he is Lamela's upgrade? 😆

Saw the first half and Roma looked sensational. I am now slightly nervous about that pile of money i have on Juventus.

Not Klaus. :hat:

Napoli recover from their mauling midweek at our hands with a 4-0 win over Livorno. Hamsik, Pandev, Inler and Callejon with the goals.

Now its time for the two big clashes of Sunday, Juventus vs Milan and lazio vs Fiorentina.

Milan score with 20 seconds on the clock. Muntari with the goal.

2-1 now. Substitute Giovinco puts Juve in the lead. 20 minutes plus Injury time left.

Mexes picked up his second yellow of the match. He's so shit.

Pirlo hits the bar from the subsequent free kick and Chiellini puts in the rebound. 3-1.

3-1 now. Pirlo hits the crossbar with another freekick and Chiellini bundles the rebound in.

Really glad that we did not buy when we were linked to him. Extremely overrated defender.

Milan pull one back. Muntari gets his second goal with a deflected shot. 3-2 now.

Totti can make anyone look great. I said as much regarding Lamela too when everyone were wanking themselves silly over him.

How good has Totti been?

Watched the Roma/Lazio game and didn't see much from him (assist aside). Then all of a sudden praise is ringing down from the high heavens and across the internet.

Spare a thought for Clueless Souness who doesn't like Wilshere either.

Best player in Italy last season. He's continued in the same fashion.

Shame Totti never did it at International Level or he would have been an even bigger legend than he is now.

Eh. He captained Italy to a World cup victory. But apart from that...

What?

Fabio Cannavaro was the captain...

I like the guy but what impact did Totti have on the 2006 World Cup?

Del Piero was more crucial to them (see Semi-Final).

Right, my bad. So he just won the World cup then. What a slouch.

Totti had more assists than anyone in that tournament and created the most chances despite playing with metal plates in his ankle. Put away a crucial penalty against Australia too. Del Piero was brilliant against Germany but went missing a lot like he always did. He started out as a reserve in that tournament. Pirlo, Cannavaro and Totti were the most important players for Italy. Grosso was the one with most impact in the big games.

Yeah, Grosso had a terrific impact against Australia …

Thought he had a decent World cup as well, I think the point Alf is trying to make is he never hit his domestic form heights internationally or you could say even in the CL. Might be more down to the teams he played in rather than the player though.

Most of those assists(4 in total I think) were from corners if I remember correctly......He was decent at best IMO, disappointing for a player of his talents. Euro 2000 was his best tournament; best man on the pitch after Henry in the final.

Totti's passing and vision are up there with the best I have ever seen, but he's not got the physical qualities required to be a dominant player at the highest level in the modern game. A player that's as slow and immobile as he's is simply not cut out to play so further forward in this day and age IMO.

It was funny watching him the other against Inter, as soon as Roma lose the ball, he just stands still and does absolutely nothing whilst the rest of the team work so hard to win back the ball. He's a genuis though.

He's lazy. Always has been.

totti is still glorious to watch, it's like watching the last of a dying breed of playmaker. he's a cut below the bergkamps, zidanes, and baggios of yesteryear, but still a wonderful player.

Gervinho was never a rubbish player; just a guy low on confidence with a couple of flaws. He had 2-3 very good, albeit relatively short spells for us.
