Can Vela play centre forward like Aguero though? I'm not so sure, always struck me as more of a wide forward or a support striker.

Just sign him. Even if he fails again, the buy-back clause is very cheap and poses no risk. Imagine him going to Chelsea or the mancs and ripping it up, we'd looks quite the fools.

I reckon in our system he could. His vision is superb as well.

He is a LOT more robust today than he was when he was here. He doesn't hide, and he doesn't shy away from the physical battle any more. He seems to have finally grown up! 10 goals and 9 assists in the league this season, and he was outstanding against Barcelona last night.

Unless I'm mistaken with any buyback clause I don't think we can force him to join us, we can force the club to sell but not for him to agree to coming back. From an interview I read a while back he seems quite happy there and not too keen on coming back.

I didn't watch that game, but after torturing myself through this,

(probably the worst match comp ever), he looked just like the Vela that couldn't hack it at Arsenal or West Brom.

9:26 in that clip is hilarious though. "The best DM in the world" made to look like an amateur twice in the space of 30 seconds.

I watched that game. Vela had some good movement and some nice snap shots.
The comparisons to Aguero, however, are outrageous. Vela is good, but still a second rate forward. We are talking about somebody who is probably still below Walcott level. I'd be happy to see him as a Podolski replacement who can play week in and week out, but as our striker? not a chance in hell. we'd be better off with Jermaine Defoe

i'd have vela over defoe. He seems like a good 'cog' player for a CL side. Technically acomplished and quite a good football brain.

Defoe is very one dimensional.

Knew Osasuna would do Atletico. Diego Costa should have left them in January, they're not winning La Liga.

He really has taken another step this season when he finally has been given a proper chance at Real. He has been nothing short of outstanding this season.

vela's not cut out for england. big, mean men scare him and he's a sissy who can't deal with cold weather or learn a new language.

hope we can make some money on his next transfer - problem is, there are only 2 clubs in spain with any money, and he isn't good enough for either of them

For us to make money of his next transfer he'd have to screw over Real Sociedad by signing for us so we can get the money for the sale. No reason for him to do that.

I think Vela could play CF for us in a good way, better than our options so far. His linkup play is fantastic, have pace to burn and tenacity to be against a few defenders. His talent was never in doubt, but at that time he was here he wasn't given much chance because we were always struggling. The only few apps he had for us in the first team he was played on the left wing which he don't really cut out for. His best position is on the right where he can cut in to shoot and through the centre.
