Modric with a goal as well. Overall, I'd say Modric is having his best season ever this year. He has been terrific for Madrid. Hope they sell us Khedira in the summer...

Have to say, I can't for the life of me figure out why Madrid spent big money on Illaramendi. He has been utterly disappointing every time I have seen him.

Illaramendi will come good. He's done ok when he's played this season but still doesn't have the confidence to display his usual passing range.

Ever since I saw Modric dominate Spain's midfield in Euros, I am convinced he is going to be world class. Now he is. One of the best central mid of europe. One of the players Wenger was utterly wrong about.

Different types of players. Casemiro doesn't look like he can play the holding role to me. Maybe I'm wrong but he looked better in a box to box role in pre season. He's not going to get a real shot in Madrid anyway. Alonso/Modric/Di Maria/Illara are all ahead of him. Khedira would be if he wasn't injured. Also, rumors of Vidal to Real Madrid in the summer won't go away at the moment.

Was half hoping they shift Di Maria out so we can get him. Brilliant player, wouldn't be worse than Ozil for us if he came over here, might even be more effective for our game currently.

Ancelotti seems to prefer to use Di Maria in central midfield at the moment, and I don't think it is his best position at all. Di Maria would be a great wide player here with his work ethic and willingness to run in behind.

Serious? Özil is miles better than Di Maria.

The amount of goals Giroud would have headed in off Di Maria's cross... also he is a winger and we lack someone of his dribbling ability.

Yeah, cause Giroud's conversion rate is so good. He's not scored one header from Sagna's crosses this season and he's had at least 10-15 really easy ones.

Di Maria is alot better than just that.

IMO, Di Maria is a wonderful player, but I would never take him over Özil. In the end, for me, I think there are several players who we could get who would offer what Di Maria does, but Özil is quite unique.

Agreed. Not only that, Di Maria isn't much of a scorer.

Don't think anybody is saying they will take Di Maria over Ozil. Just comparing their effectiveness in our current team, especially when we don't have the players to complement Ozil.

Like for instant, if given a choice, obviously one would say Di Maria + Higuain > Ozil for our season.

Di Maria would complement Özil well. Champagne player when he can be arsed. He makes dribbling look so effortless at times.
