Nah, but he is 16. His vision is excellent, so is his technique, passing, and movement - when we have the ball. The defensive side of his game is sub-par though, and that is of course very important when playing in central midfield. He also needs to properly grow into his body!

Wonder if the Chelsea captain, with the unfortunate name Loftus Cheek, can do it at senior level. Looks exactly the type of midfielder Moron likes. Who knows, he may be the first Chelsea youth to actually get a game...

FT 2-1 Chelsea.

Pretty disappointing performance from Zelalem, lost the ball a couple times. But, still only young so there's bundles of time for him to improve his overall game.

Crowley showed brief glimpses of potential at the start of the second half, otherwise also quiet.

Great finish by Akpom though, especially as he's been isolated for the majority of the game. As above, impressive showing.

Great goal from Akpom. He worked his socks off, like he always does.

We're not seeing what Zelalem is really made of right now. He looks a little lost.

Whole set-up is a bit shit right now, can't hold it against the kids. Hopefully the Dutch bloke sorts out the mess.

I think Maitland-Niles, at only 16, is a bigger prospect than he's given credit for as well. Impresses me every time I see him.

Ricky, I agree with you on Maitland-Niles. Looks really good.

Not that it matters at this age, but apart from Akpom, the Chelsea players were physically stronger and faster than ours. My disappointment was the serious lack of fight from the midfield and defence.
The keeper played well but Chelsea's strikers were always first to the loose balls and rebounds off his saves. I haven't watched much of him since pre-season when he looked impressive and i know he had a bad injury soon after that but Zelalem, along with the rest of the midfield, were very disappointing.

Looks a great dribbler Maitland-Niles. There's been a real dearth of good wingers in the youth teams these past years (Wenger's philosophy seeping down?). Would be a nice change having a real talent in that position.

I have to ask - how on earth does Ormonde-Otteville get a game btw? He was absolutely atrocious versus Barcelona, and he was shit here too.

He gets a game because there is no one else. He's decent going forward, hopeless defensively though.

I wouldn't underestimate the advantage playing at home is at this level. Especially when it's in a proper stadium with thousands of supporters. So don't be too quick to judge the two teams tonight, wait until you see the reverse fixture at the Emirates next Thursday. Game's on ITV4 btw.

Will watch that of course. The pertinent question regarding Ormonde-Otteville is WHY isn't there a better player? It is so obvious he is never going to make it.

He's done at Arsenal. He won't get a look in at this club. We'll invest big in strikers this summer and the squad will be full of more established players taking up the rest of the places.
