That's harsh as even though i feel it is not advisable to go to a foreign country, when still an under-developed player, i think it's incredibly brave as Sancho is the only English player i can think of who has proven that route to be a success.

If he is leaving to join a youth first team like Rennes, Salzburg, Leipzig, then I will understand. If he immediately leaves for a Bayern, then I’ll laugh at him. But I still think he would get a decent shot here.

Nelson, our most high profile youngster, only managed to get Hoffenheim so Amaechi is not getting a top team with his record. Malen got the PSV gig as they knew him well as he was a top Ajax youngster. Similarly Bremen and Bayern must have known Gnabry well from his Stuttgart days.
I think he made this decision because Emery snubbed him for the American tour which must have been crushing as all his peers and guys like Burton and Olayinka, who he may feel he is much better than, were chosen. Mirrors the Man City situation when Foden was picked instead of Sancho for the pre-season tour and is now a full international while Foden is still with the u21s. This has influenced a growing number of English youth players which is great news as i think the failure rate of young footballers making it to the pro ranks is something ridiculous like 99%. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b036x8d2
I, however, agree with you that he has been too rash as that failure rate applies to the guys ahead of him as well so he could overtake them over the next couple of years with safety umbrella of our academy with it's world class facilities. In the video below, Reiss described the Hoffenheim one and though not explicit, an educated guess tells me it's not as comfy (i deliberately didn't say good).

Marcus McGuane signed for Barcelona. Stephy Mavididi signed for Juventus. There's a major difference between scooping up a player on a permanent deal and getting a young player for a 1 year loan. If you think that Hoffenheim would be the highest profile club interested in Reiss Nelson if he were available on a permanent transfer then you're out of your fucking mind.

Going to a top club doesn't necessarily increase the chances of making it as he may be jumping from a hot pan into the fire if they've got better players ahead him which was the reason he left Arsenal in the first place.
Unlike Claudius i will be rooting (is that the right word?, i'm not fluent in American) for him unless he joins Tottenham, chavski or Man utd.

There's no love involved in football at all in any direction except for us dumb ass fans. Clubs couldn't care less about players who aren't good enough, players will ditch a club if they figure they can get more money or success elsewhere. Everyone's in it for themselves, even when players reach Madrid or Barcelona and talk about never wanting to leave it's because they're the biggest clubs in the world and they can't do any better for themselves. It's just us fans standing on the sidelines nagging about their decisions like little bitches

Players want to play with the best players. Imagine playing with Ramsey passing the ball 5 yards behind you every time in midfield. You're doubling back on yourself and you'll maybe get to control it and lay it of to a defender. While playing with a top player you'll get a perfectly weighted pass the you dont have to break stride to control it you can then do whatever you want with the ball then. Players want to play with top players I think fans underappreciate that aspect.

It's hard to say at this point, scoring goals at U18 level really isn't much of a gauge of anything, but obviously his performance last night is something to take notice of. Barnet might be non-league but they still are infinitely more difficult to play against than other acadmey sides.

In terms of style, he really is similar to Nketiah. An old school Number 9. This season is the one to watch because he'll lead the line for the U23s. If he can cut it against bigger, stronger players, sometimes experienced pros even drop down, and still bang 20 or 30 goals in then we're talking. Let's see.

I think he's had a good pre-season. You can see the other players respect him and he knows it.

His size and athleticism mean he's worth spending a lot of time on trying to teach him how to become a good defender. I think there might be a player there.

Was interesting that he seems to be ahead of Mavropanos in the pecking order. The club obviously no longer think much of him.

If Mavropanos was ever rated highly within the club it has probably been offset by his injuries. His body seems unfit to play top level sports. Holding did his ACL last fall, and I think he has still missed less games over the last 18 months than Mav.
