Jenkinson has been doing well. Despite people trying to desperately cling onto some Internet 'I told you he was shit' line, the true gooners are fully behind him and rightly so. But of course, Sagna should be - and is - first choice.

I'm all for balanced opinions. It's people who claim to be grown men squirming about trying to prove themselves 'right' on the internet that gets tedious. It's quite clear to see that some of you guys have favourites that you'll praise regardless and villains that you'll criticise regardless. It's just embarrassing. I don't know what it is with an internet forum. It's certainly not like this down the pub over here. As I say, true gooners are fully behind him and rightly so - Jenks has been doing alright at the very least. Nobody is going to get a Sagna-quality back up.

I find that to be more of a general quality of people, holding onto opinions for the sake of ego more than anything. Think it probably is worse on forums because its harder to backtrack off a previous position if people have seen you write it down.

As to the actual footballing question, I think we'd do well to sign a young, promising cb (Ginter?), that way we play Sagna there less and see less of Jenkinson at RB by extension.

Wenger has three gambles

1) not strengthening the squad which can take part in the qualifiers (deadline for registering players for that is today)

2) failing to get new players in who can play premiership games around our qualifiers thus enabling us to rest those eligible

3) failing to strengthen at all thus jeopardising our chances of having a successful campaign

How far will he go?

The backroom staff having been working extremely hard, or so we are told. So far they don't appear to have been working effectively

Whether anyone is a true gooner or likes Jenkinson is irrelevant. Nobody thinks he is fit to play 40-45 games for Arsenal this season and that should be the basic requisite of a second choice for a team with intentions to still be challenging on all fronts come march/april.

Well that's the point of a squad and being first/choice second choice isnt it? No team in the world has a squad where second string players are good enough to play 45 games a season.

At the top level, you generally find that teams have four fullbacks capable of doing exactly that.

But then at the top level mostly everyone has more than one striker too...

Who are United's backup fullbacks? Only one I can think of is Fabio after Evra and Rafael.

Chelsea have Bertrand as backup LB, not a great option. RB is fine with Ivanovic and Azpiculeta (or something like that).

City have Zabaleta and Richards for RB, and clichy and who else for LB?

Monreal and Jenks seem fine as backup to be honest.

Yeah, I can't imagine that's actually true.

Id say every team, even City, have areas of the side where their backups are shite.

Utd: Rafael has no backup, Smalling and Jones play there if needed. Evra's backup is Büttner and unless they send Fabio on loan again then he too.

City: Zabaleta & Richards on right, Clichy & Kolarov on left.

Chelsea: Ivanovic & Azpilicueta on right, Cole & Bertrand on left.

Find it worrying that we're not looking for a keeper. Mannone started 13 games last season, Szczesny was out for several months and Fabianski is the Diaby of goalkeepers.

Completely missed Gervinho's departure been that busy of late, 8M isn't too bad, completely baffling signing for them but not going to complain.

With Chamakh also gone this has to be one of the best clear-outs in our recent history, just need to replace these crapsters with a few quality signings.

I wouldn't be surprised to a see a Mart Poom type signing towards the end of the window.
