not enough quality and not enough players. How can you sell an entire squad of players and not have an idea of replacements? Or is it Zelalem, Gnabry, etc who are going to come in this season as first teamers?

To be fair we havent sold anyone 'cept Gervinho who contributed to last season. We do not have a weaker squad than last year. But in the current state of things we havent moved closer to anyone and Sp*rs have strenghtened alot more than us this summer so at best we can fight for 4th again.

Well Coquelin was adding depth in midfield last season too. Plus we had a 4th choice centre half, even if they were all shit. So just depth wise we need at least 3 players for the squad. Thats without adding any quality to the team.

Hmm. I think maybe Wenger has settled on his starting eleven being the team that finished last season.
It looks like he's not going to demote Giroud and draft in a better class of striker.
After that it would seem that any buying we do will be to strengthen the back-up options in defence (RB? maybe CB who can play LB?) and in midfield we may see a Gustavo style player signed, though probably not Gustavo himself.

It's just dawned on me today that Wenger will only be looking at replacing some of the deadwood that he's cleared and that whoever he buys probably won't be much of an upgrade on those who have left.

fair enough that a large number of people were out on loan last year and have now left but we still have 1 straight up CF, 1 Proper CDM. The club is happy to put faith in Wenger and he is putting faith in the players but we look awfully short and have the resources to do far more, so why have we just let it stand? Why not reduce ticket prices?

The club needs to know what Arsene is doing and push him as he will just take the path of least resistance otherwise and keep it the same and try and put together a team capable of 4th or maybe better, this squad has nothing more than that in it.

I hate to be the one to say it, but there are 3 weeks to go. I'll be stunned if we don't bring in at least a couple of players by the 4th. Whether or not they're of the required standard remains to be seen, but leaving it thus late means our options are extremely limited.

We can still realistically get Gustavo, Rooney, Lichtsteiner and Cesar. And that would make us challengers IMO. Either way this could possibly be wengers last summer transfer window at arsenal, he will buy.

just mind boggling what's happening atm. someone at the club should just tell wenger to shut up and sit down. make a £50 mill bid for suarez. if liverpool say no, go all in for rooney, gustavo and a defender. fuck all this dithering.

Don't know why we can't sign Gustavo and a defender regardless. The Suarez deal was always going to be a long shot, at least if we covered our bases with a midfielder and a defender we wouldn't be so vulnerable going into the first game.

that's because you're foolishly expecting competence from those running the club. they can't walk and chew gum at the same time. you have to focus all your energy on one transfer at at time. when you sort that out then you move on to the next target. if the next target is no longer there you complain that the other teams acted too quickly and didn't have the decency to allow you to wrap up the previous transfer.
