Wenger saying he doesn't give 100%, not suprising he doesn't start on the regs.

hat said he and gnabry or AOC are nailed on as wide players for the fulham game; their fullback are terrible going backwards.

“Yes [this is my most egalitarian squad], certainly in midfield,” he told Arsenal Player.
“In midfield we have plenty of quality players who you can rotate easily without really feeling, ‘today we are weaker’.
“We have fantastic players in midfield and it always allows us to keep what we call the ‘engine’ of the team fresh.
“It is a real team effort. Maybe because every player in his position has a strong personality as well - you have that feeling.
“I would say purely on the football front it's true that we only have excellent players in every position and that allows you to have different types of teams that can really be efficient.”

Wonder if he would say "today we are weaker" if we were to play Poldi as our main striker?
He'd have to say so if we ended up having to play Park or Sanogo.

they play football in training, too, and it's not just a kick around. IF podolski is half-assing it in training and not getting his fitness up, then that is down to him. this is the league we're talking about, not a fitness-building exercise.

Practice rarely, if ever, is as strenuous as a game. Players succeed or fail on the half second extra they create for themselves through fitness (Ramsey) or quality (Ozil).

At this point it appears Wenger doesn't think Podolski has one or the other.

you get less time in possession drills than you ever do in a match. the whole point of training is to create scenarios that are more difficult than what you face on matchday, so that matchday seems easy in comparison.

i get that he might not be match sharp, but there's no reason for him not to be fit in the physical sense.

Average number of academy players used in starting 11 this season, in Top 5 leagues..

We've done quite well in bringing some players through our ranks, better than we get credit for imo.

Indeed we do, and all of them can get better, Özil included. I'm interested in seeing what Wenger does with the most defensive midfield position. Will he go out and buy someone for the role to replace the ageing Arteta, or will he change/adapt the system and use internal solutions?

Hmm. Do Walcott and Ramsey count as academy players? They shouldn't since they were never really in the academy, right? Same with Jenkinson.

The ones making up our statistics would be Szczesny, Gibbs, Wilshere, Gnabry, Miyaichi and Bendtner then. That's still pretty good, though I suppose the fact that we have a first choice keeper in there does wonders for the numbers.

It says on the infographic (in French) that it includes all players who've served three full seasons at their club between 15 and 21. Think Walcott and Ramsey would count therefore.

kinda cheesy to count 18yr olds that were bought for 7 figures but i guess you have to draw the line somewhere. i personally wouldnt count walcott, ramsey or gnabry as arsenal products.
