We should only sign a special striker IMO, otherwise we should just look for a loan deal in January and try again in the summer.

2nd tier strikers are a waste of time.

As much as I agree that we need a new striker I think some of our recent concerns/staticness will be relieved by having Walcott/Podolski in the team.

When Ozil was signed most of us felt he'd have more influence on Theo's game than Giroud's.

Cup tied doesn't matter for us this time, all about the PL.

having walcott back isnt going to turn giroud into bergkamp. the issue is that giroud simply is not a top class finisher and nothing will change that. in big games (CL knockouts, united, chelsea, city), chances are few and far between, and you want expert finishers on the end of them to give yourself the best chance to win.

i really hope wenger works with ozil on his goalscoring. atm (and apart from that sick goal against napoli), he almost reminds me of hleb sometimes - he's overly generous with his passing when a low, hard drive across goal would be the better option.

Meh there's 80% of every top league with non cup tied strikers. One of them is bound t be good enough.

He's never going to score much, just doesn't have it in him. 10 goals tops.

He's already scored more than Hlebs best season

Akpom in pre season was miles better than anything Bendtner has shown. I don't see the point in having Bendtner as number 2, I really don't.

Getting Walcott back will also help Özil in the sense that there is one less player crowding the area where he is at his best.

I hate how people go so overboard after a bad result. Especially harsh on Özil and Giroud.

Özil - its like people have never seen him before he came to us? Did you expect him to be a one-man wecking crew? He is and always will be the guy to put it on a plate for others. He will struggle if there are no good outlets for him (ie. us missing genuine options out wide). He has never scored 10 goals in a league season for any club he has played for. Other thing is pace of the PL - its not the same as La Liga.

Giroud - he is not a striker to bully a whole defence alone like Drogba. In big games (Dortmund, United) our midfield drops too deep to defend and he is alone up there, cant bring anyone into the play (which is his strong point) and thus cant be at the end of the moves to finish things off. He tries though. But like in Özils case its like people expect miracles from the guy without looking at problems in the team.

Agreed Marv3llous.

Some football fans are worse than politicians the way they always seem to blame individual players for bad results. It's never that simple though and yesterday it was a difference of margins that resulted in us not getting a point despite an overall lacklustre display.

Özil is still adapting to the pace of the PL. It hasn't helped him either that we try are hardest to crowd out the area where he is at his best.

Having said that, he has been disappointing for a couple of games now.

Well if you/fans want to be unreasonable about his skillset and start putting the blame on him (while pointing at his fee, which he has no say in) then go ahead. I would understand the critisism had he left chances unsused but he rarely had anyone ahead of him.
