We are still short a versatile defender as we have a basic backup and RB crocked CB, a top elite barn storming do everything striker, and a decent width producing winger (bearing in mind Ox is obsessed with cutting in to CM), and a real top quality GK as I see nothing in Woj to indicate he will become anything other than a weak link over the next two years, Plus we need an actual defensive mid to cover our only option in Arteta as no player is able to cover what he is able to do at the moment

We will never sort this out before the start of the season and we won't ever really sort any of these issues out long term which is why we are stuck here again with two week to go looking at a squad of players who scraped 4th (and celebrated like winning a title) while having easily over £80 mil ready to go for signing.

As much we all love big Mert he's getting found out by top strikers time and time again. He's 29 next month and going to start losing the pace he never had soon. It really is time to bring in an understudy like Ginter and let them adjust to the league slowly.

Priorities wise id go for
CF => CB => CM Beast => Wide Attacker

Ginter would be good, seeing that no promising worthwhile RBs are in the market so far.

I'm sure we'll sign a couple of players, given our interest in Higuain and Suarez, it would be odd not to. How good they are and the impact it'll have on the start of the season is a different matter.

Delighted that most of the shitsters have left though.

I think our CM/DM slot is the single position that will improve the side the most.
I acknowledge we did better than expected in this department last season, but Arteta's legs are a year older and Ramsey is just adapting to the position.
Hopefully it was due to pre-season experimentation as it was worrying that there was not enough protection of our back four from the Urawa Red Devils, Napoli and Galatasaray midfield runners.
It was quite noticeable when watching chelsea lose to RM and man city losing to Bayern how these team's CMs close down and challenge the opposition runners everytime.

I think the striker position is what cost us the most last season. Maybe Giroud will be better this year but his conversion rate was terrible and lost us points last year.

True, getting a decent striker will get us more goals but not necessarily more points if the rest of the team is performing worse. As i said, we have been extremely dependent on Arteta but he is getting on a bit now and i can only hope that Ramsey can do what he has been doing lately, for the whole season.

We need a striker who doesn't need a whole lot of time or chances to decimate a defence and can turn a match on it's head in a few minutes.

I remember this point being raised when we sold Van Persie - the argument at the time was that Podolski and Giroud would replace his goals between them which they didn't do, or that the goals would be spread around more, which they were not.
We absolutely need a brilliant striker if we're to move up a level.
We can't afford to be held scoreless by the likes of Norwich, Sunderland, Stoke let alone be held scoreless at the Emirates by Swansea.

That is, both of those scenarios came to fruition but it was never about replacing Persie's goals; we always needed to add to them.

I know, what I meant to stress was that there were some views that suggested that we would not feel the loss of Van Persie as his goals would be replaced by Giroud and Podolski, they weren't, they only scored 22 between them.
In terms of the spread of goals between players we had 17 players score PL goals with Van Persie in the team and just 12 last season.
The myth was that we'd be better off for being less dependent on one striker but it actually made us less resourceful in terms of breaking teams down.

I was really talking about the quality to help us winning tight games. I think a top striker can do that.
