Very unfair on him imo. He missed a whole season thanks to many injuries, and one could clearly see he is nowhere near fit, even at the 4th game. In the past, he used to be the most hard working player on the pitch, chasing down impossible passes and tracking back whenever possible. In pre-season, he can't even run for simple balls. If you noticed his workrate, it was worse than Arshavin. He was clearly struggling and panting throughout, after just 5-10mins.

That said, he still produced a few good moments.

I agree, Clarence. But it's going to take him a long while to really get back up to speed in terms of fitness, and given he still has a lot of developing to go through as a footballer anyway, surely he shouldn't be near the first team this season?

What alarms me more than anything is the fact that he's still built like a scrawny little kid a couple of years after arriving. Others in our squad of a similar age have gone through a noticeable physical transformation.

Kagawa is just abit more buff than him, don't seem to be affecting how good he is. Don't think physical built is that important, he will gain some when he starts playing again.

But what's he been doing the last 12 months whilst he's been injured? How can he not have added some muscle in that time?

Oh, is that what he is, 'wiry'? And here was me thinking he was a skinny little kid that hadn't worked as hard in the gym as his team mates. 🙂

Don't if you're being serious - Kagawa signed for Dortmund the same summer Miyaichi first came to Arsenal. And Ryo looked a huge talent then, nothing odd about that signing.

Well Kagawa signed for Dortmund the same summer Ryo came here for his trial, but I think we had to wait six months for him to finish High School to sign him up. We're all being overly pedantic anyway... :hat:

Their school teams are the same as being at an Academy, or at least some of them are. It's no different to waiting until Theo or Cesc came of age before poaching them.

Let's count first on what is here, and if we can add something then we will do.
It's very difficult to predict that that will all be sorted out before we play in the Champions League qualifier.
I think we have enough quality to achieve it with the players we have at the moment, if we can bring more in before that it is even better.

Great, 2nd qualifying leg is August 27th/28th.

Would be stupid to wait for the CL qualifiers though.
