My point is that Wenger hasn't picked up anything regarding tactics or formation from Klopp which you seemed to imply. More likely to be the other way around.

The slightly deeper, 'wide' playmaking role Ramsey had against City—if we keep a player in that position it should be the one (other than Cazorla) who can do the most damage creatively and in terms of goals. Why? Because it's a role with much more freedom. The two deeper central mids (Arteta and Diaby) we play with at the moment have far more defensive responsibility.

That other player's relatively free to shuttle up and down the right side, to be an outlet or a creator, to defend when it helps the team without being relied on. The only issue is it detracts from the potency of our attack.

As far as I'm concerned Cazorla is owning that most advanced CM position.

Yep, we've basically been 4411 without the ball this season, Wenger kind of using Klopp's tactics at Dortmund with Kagawa.

It may also have been a bit due to Steve bould. i.e. Our off the ball discipline. Also Poldi is very disciplined/mature. He defends like a proper 442 wide man unlike our other past wide players like shava/theo/nasri etc

Would prefer Santi wide instead of Wilshere. Simply because he has more experience there plus i want him nearer to goal. This is assuming Ramsey plays No 10.

Wilshere would probably do a good job out wide but it would surely be a waste of his full talents. That guy was born to be the heart of the side in the middle (Diaby's position). Similarly, as Burnsy says above, Cazorla is too good where he is now to consider moving him.

It would be a real shame at the moment to hinder the burgeoning Cazorla / Gibbs / Podolski bromance by swinging Santi over to the right.

If Diaby continues to produce solid but sub-Liverpool performances there's an argument we could line up as:

ie still our sort of 4-2-3-1, but with Ramsey more a conventional winger, Podolski more a striker, and Wilshere and Cazorla wreaking havoc and spraying passes in the centre. A formation that we've already seen can work well with Diaby in place of Wilshere.

There will be times where we have to rest Santi, don't forget about that. Jack can play 10 in those matches. Also Arteta isn't going to play every match, interested to see what we do then. Wenger did say he really likes Diaby-Wilshere double pivot so maybe that's what we'll do.

Edit: Why in that formation do you have Jenks OR Sagna? 😆

Just that—one or the other plays, Sagna when fit and sharp, Jenkinson for the time being while Sagna's out injured.

The formation above is precisely what we played against City with Wilshere in the lineup.

Have to say I'm a bit annoyed at Thierry for pissing away his last good years in MLS. He could've played at European top level for a lot longer than he did. He's one of the most entertaining players I've ever seen. That clip reminds me of why.
