Arshavin was immensely talented of course. It is when seeing players like him, who have all the talent in the world but not the desire and mentality to fully develop it, when I get really frustrated. I think that's why I loathe Bendtner too; at 16-18 he was a top class talent who could have been a really, really good player, but he just pissed it away.

Arshavin just couldn't cope physically after he left Zenit and their highly organised and meticulous doping regimen.

I think Arshavin was a class talent but his body wasn't really suited for the modern game. Neither was his work ethic. I've rarely seen anyone become shit so quickly.

I suspect this may be one of the reasons why Walcott can't get in. Also this is a new style, makes watching the team more enjoyable.

Not if we don't score goals and struggle to create decent openings from all those nice one-touch flicks. Give me 3 or 4 quick, direct passes and a clear chance at the end of the move, Invincibles-style, over that stuff any day.

That video is probably a bad example considering we were playing against a wall of Chelsea players, mind.

The invincibles played plenty of lovely one touch football with flicks and everything else. There seems to be a common misconception recently that they only played direct, counter attacking football. The real difference is that they had the quality to make the most of the space and opportunities created by some of those flicks. Other than Nacho's one at the end, that's just utterly hopeless 😆

The interesting thing about that video isn't the back heel touches, but the fact that in some instances it seems we've got players running behind each other looking for those returns.

And Mourinho had all his players tracking our 2nd runner in most of the moves and instead of closing in on the player that is on the ball.

He had all the quick 1-2s covered.

I don't think it's as easy as that. It's very hard to defend against these unexpected quick flicks. Just ask Liverpool and Mancity.

He's the master of such anti-football, sit back let opponents have possession so that there's less danger.

we're scoring some brilliant goals and pretty much winning every game. Chelsea knew they were in trouble in an open game and that's why that played for the draw, as everyone predicted. We're the best team in the country this year, let's try not getting everyone injured and hope we get a chance to show it for a full season.

Yeah, we were brilliant in possession, rarely ever turned it over in dangerous areas.

A team can be great at counter attacking and also dangerous in possession. They aren't mutually exclusive.

Those tricks and flicks were key to opening up Chelsky. The only problem then was that we failed to make the most of the opportunities created. Rambo's little flick should have been exploited much better by Ozzie.
