I don't mind them being shite at defending though, Burnsy! 😉

Had they marked Arshavin and van Persie, Nasri would probably have skinned his defender and buried it himself.

No, I don't mind either! It gives me great hope for the return fixture, because they aren't good enough to stop us scoring. They failed to stop us last season in both legs.

Actually, I don't think the game at Nou Camp will be much different to the first leg. They will have their fans making sure they don't drop off like they did, but overall it will be more of the same. Them tippy-tappying the ball around trying to get it to Messi or through to Villa and we will defend for large periods of the game and try and make the best use of the possession, when we get the ball.

We're definitely good enough to score 1 or 2. If the lads put in a heroic defensive performance again, I see no reason why we couldn't knock them out.

But that is exactly the nature of their game. They try to isolate players with their movement off the ball and ensure that the ball never reaches its target, and most of them have an incredible ability to read where the ball is going to be passed.

Earlier on in the match there were so many times where our moves broke down just because a Barca player stuck his foot out at exactly the right time. But pace and individual ability will break that down- and by the 80th minute Barca were exhausted from their own game and had little pace relative to our lads, especially Shava who'd just came on. Some of them were practically jogging back ala Denilson.

Very underrated finishing as well. Shava made it looked so simple but at that point it clearly wasn't

At the game I knew he was good, but seeing back on TV, he was utterly fantastic.

Martin Tyler's commentary for Arshavinnnnnnnn's goal was brilliant! The best commentator I've seen by a million miles. Love him.

kos was awesome. stayed really close to everyone he was up against. he did get caught out a couple of times but otherwise he was really good

Haha, well, that saves me the trouble then. Those were the two players I was going to make compilations of.

I might make one with Walcott, come think of it. Watching the game a second time it's clear that he had a very underrated performance.

He did well but as I feared he received the ball too often in our own half facing our goal. Barca aren't ideal opposition for him at all despite his heroics last year. Nasri was quite average for alot of the game as well actually.

Watching it now and I had forgotten about our freekick early in the first half; it was a great chance that didn't feature in the highlights that I saw. I've been reading about how Barca could have been two goals up within twenty minutes but we had some quality chances just within the first ten ourselves.

Theo was good, just not involved enough after two or three bright moments in the first 20 mins or so, which is a shame as I think Maxwell was there for the taking.

Yeah, Walcott wasn't given ideal balls to work with last night, but it wasn't his attacking runs that caught my eye when watching it the second time around. Well, some of them, but it was mainly his defensive efforts. He won the ball back brilliantly a number of times where I fear we would've been fucked if Eboue had tried the same thing. There was this steal in particular where Villa (I think it was him) got the ball, turned around and was about to advance against our goal with the closest defender ten yards away when Walcott came running back and dispossessed him.

Ricky: Looking at them now and I agree. I might just do that.

Criminally underrated, so you really should do one. Through ball to Fabregas before he crossed it to RVP was splendid and only a little overhit.

I love how much of a proper striker Van Persie is now. So many intelligent runs and he battles hard.

The past two months have been like having Henry around again. I'm more or less counting on Robin to either score or assist in every game now. If I count correctly he's scored 12 goals and assisted 3 in his last 10 games. Majestic. Best form in Europe at the moment?

I love it when RVP does those little feints and tricks that are so effective like the one on 3.11. Pretends to backheel to trick everyone to get the space to fire a shot away
