It does seem as though none of the bigger club want anything to do with Suarez which is why we even have a chance of signing someone as good as him. I say take it. I don't think I'll ever like him but sometimes you gotta compromise.

Just sign him and get it over with.

Yes he's a cunt, yes he is. Good for nothing racist scum cheating piece of shit.

But minimum he will score 25 goals.

His name on our team sheet will minimum give us 10 extra points.

All of the above is worth more than his asking price.

signing no striker is a lot bigger crime.

I'm ready to sell out as his arrival will be massive and send shock waves in the league.

Arsenal will be talked about and hated again and that's what we've wanted for years.

Fair play Alf, I've been re reading this thread and you always rated Suarez even before it was fashionable.
As I said before in the other thread that was locked- I want us to be hated too, but because we are jammy and win things not because we have a cunt like him in our team.

Anyhoo, time for a look at this classic again.

Seems like the Suarez issue is not really a great moral dilemma afterall.
Excuse the pun, but it seems to be a clear black and white issue amongst us fans.
There is hardly any fence sitting or gnashing of teeth going on.

Personally, as if i haven't made myself clear, i would prefer us to act the cunt and sabotage the spuds move for Soldado rather than buy the cunt that guarantees meeting with the FA and you know how much they love us already!

None of that messing about in midfield, this guy seems to be a proper goal-hanging number 9 with pace and skills to boot!

I love those kind of players selfish blinkered bastards who only have eyes for the goal, like Wrighty in the old days.

But Y'Know......Wenger knows.....

It's possible to like both if the results are good as i loved both Wrighty and Henry.

@ Dules or any La Liga expert.
That is a genuine question re:Soldado.

Henry?

Is he too much of a Wenger player Biggus?

He was the complete player he could dance he could sing he could do everything.

He's not bad, but he's not top notch. Think they're better off targeting a younger player

How does Geoff get the credit when we have been discussing this amongst ourselves for days based on comments from Suarez, his agent, Liverpool, Brendon Rodgers, Tom, Dick and Harry.

Obviously we would prefer an upgrade, so is he marginally or much better than Giroud?

I think giroud is better

But then I think giroud is underrated here

If he is worse than the G-meister, then spurs are welcome to him.

Soldado is a decent player and would probably improve us, but he's really not any better than who we've already been linked to. He'd be a very good signing for Tottenham though (or Liverpool if they sell Suarez).

Indeed, and if Wenger was a better manager he would know how to use him to advantage.

Wow. Now Suarez knows that we have bid for him. It must be a revelation to him.

I wonder what the point of inserting such a clause in the contract is. Did anyone realistically think that a high profile bid will be made for the player and he won't be aware of it?

Predicted the day and amount correctly.

Are the figures and dates very different from what his agent/agents have been saying all along?

After wavering back and forth, I have finally concluded that for footballing reasons we need to get this deal done. Don't see why we can't sign Suarez plus 1 other big name.

Suarez plus Higuain, suarez plus Sodaldo or Suarez plus Fabregas would be awesome! we can afford it!!!!

Spoke to Suarez camp on Mon - wants & expects to be at a CL club next season. #Afc interest him but other options, in no rush to decide #lfc

He looks hell-bent to get a move. But, he might want to wait for a while to see if Madrid or Chelsea or may be Bayern come for him. However, I can't imagine Liverpool waiting forever for him to decide, as well. They'd need some time to find a replacement and will place a transfer deadline of their own.

The problem is that they value him at a higher price and will not let go of him very easily. There are a hundred different ways this transfer can get scuttled. Why is why I still don't see this happening.

Breaking: Liverpool reject a bid of £40m from Arsenal for Luis Suarez. More soon #lfc #afc

Hopefully this isn't taking all of our energy. Suarez can't play until sept/oct anyway, so we need to be forcing through whatever other deals we plan to make right now.

The best thing about this deal will be the reaction of Liverpool fans.

Are we seriously going after this guy...?!? I can't wrap my head around this.

Read up some more and lots are saying that we bid £40,000,001 to trigger his £40,000,000 release clause. Does he even have one?

That £1 makes it sound like something Wenger and co would.

Really feels like something is going to happen here. Whether it's us pushing through this deal or trying to force Madrid's hand regarding Higuain.

Would we really bid £40mil+£1 just to force another teams hand to sell us their player? We'd look like fools if Liverpool accept the bid and we just say "nah just kidding." They obviously know much more about the situation than we do though so I really want to see the final outcome.

Apparently, there is a clause in his contract that binds Liverpool to inform Suarez about any bid greater than 40 million pounds.

😆

All of Suarez's negative behavioural issues aside - because I don't really care about them all that much - I can't believe that we're finally gonna go big on a player, REALLY big if reports are right, and we can't get a better player than Suarez.

Maybe I'm not moving with the times, but for £40m I want something superhuman.

I think that's that. Can't see us bidding anymore and rightly so.

Don't know if it has already been posted here but Suarez supposedly won't play in Liverpool's next preseason match, Rodgers had earlier indicated he'd play some part. They said Torres wouldn't be sold and said Reina would stay and both gone.

IMO Liverpool are just trying to extract every last penny out of us but depends now whether we'll just concentrate on other targets or look to tie this one up first just to make sure nobody else comes in. Saying that I doubt Real Madrid will come in with a much larger offer, can we afford to run that risk though. £40mill can't be far off the max we'd be prepared to go though. Also now depends on Suarez and whether he wants to join us, if he sits tight then he isn't that interested to join us so interesting to see if he tries to force the issue. Maybe he should get RvP to write him up an article to put up on his web page....

There is, we have and they have.
They have also said no.
We have increased a bit.
They have said no a bit more softly.
We are now waiting for Geoff to make the final decision.
