Luke Freeman has signed for Stevenage in a permanent deal.

Surprised actually. He has never quite looked like a world beater, but he has looked much improved in the last 18 months or so. He will score a lot of goals in his career, a really good finisher and that knack for being in the right place at the right time .

From what I remember, he reminded me of Owen too much. A pretty good finisher but pretty average in everything else.

He'll score a lot of goals....but in the lower leagues. Reckon he's gonna be a good Championship level striker.

I think he'll make it to the Premier League a little later in his career, and will definitely score a load of goals along the way.

I wonder what they paid for him. He cost us a fair sum back when we bought him.

He only cost us £200,000 (it's in the BBC link above), and I'd guess we got at least that back.

Afobe says there's big interest in him on the loan front, including one Premier League club.

"It depends what the club want to do really and I'm not sure what the boss wants to do, but I just want to focus on getting fit first.

"My aim has always been to be break into the Arsenal first team because that is what I have wanted to do for the past ten years, but if the boss wants me to go out on loan for a few months then that would be good too.

"Personally, I'd love to stay here at Arsenal because you learn so much from the first-team regulars on a daily basis, but we'll see how things go when I'm fully fit.

"A lot of teams have been asking when I'll be fully fit again, including around ten Championship clubs and Glasgow Rangers, plus a Premier League team, but I won't be going anywhere just yet due to my injury.

"It has been a very frustrating time for me this season, but hopefully I can make up for lost time when I'm fully fit again."

Would love to see him go to someone like Wigan or Wolves.

I dont think we wanted to sell but Luke and his parents chose to sign for them after a long chat .

A high sell on clause in case he actually turns out to be a decent player is no doubt in his contract.

Good luck to the lad. It's probably best he went elsewhere before he was inevitably called on to start against Man City when every other forward was suffering from herniated eyebrows. The abuse he'd have gotten would have been something else :p

Hayden, Olsson, Toral and Gnabry are big time talents. All just 16.

Olsson looks a smooth player. Some great stuff from Gnabry also. Have seen a little bit more of him and have to say I'm excited. The Germans are going to be scary in the future, so I'm glad we snapped him up early.

On a side note, Steve Bould is a very good coach. No mug that guy. I secretly wish he'd get a chance to manage the first team some time in the future. Depends on a lot of factors I suppose, but think he'd do well. A Guardiola type appointment.

Bould is a long way off that, but he does look like he might one day have the makings of a decent manager.

I think Olsson is the pick of the bunch, but I reckon we'll hear big things about all of them.

Course, but if we are going to promote from within he seems better suited for the role than Neil Banfield. And I like Neil.

Hype aside, I've got to say the quality of player our youth system is producing has steadily/genuinely increased with time gone by. That's a good sign. Good to know that we're doing something right.

Looking forward to seeing those guys in the Premiership...lifting the trophy. 😃

Hayden is a really classy player, I really like what I've seen of him.

As part of the 1995 crop (the names above are all '95 born, too), we've also got Ormonde-Ottewill, Jack Jebb and Chuba Akpom, who are big parts of England's U17 team. And have looked seriously good whenever I've seen them play.

I've heard very promising things about that Olsson lad from people who have guided him through his youth career. Must be difficult for a Swede to even get a trial - let alone a contract - with Arsenal too since the club doesn't do much scouting of their own in Scandinavia anymore.
