The point being that when someone talks about Arsenal wasting 'their' money, it's nonsense. The only person who has wasted it, if that is how they feel, is the person who willingly handed it over. It's not a tax, you don't have to pay it, it's a luxury that you decided to spend your hard earned on. It's not your money once you have handed it over, it's gone.

And yes, I was definitely saying that every Arsenal fan literally wants to watch Messi and Ronaldo for 60 games a year. Clearly.

In its simplest form this is all correct however there is a disconnect with fans ability obtain/relinquish tickets and such so its not a clear cut as you continue to make out.

There's some truth in it though, buying a match ticket admits you to watch a live game but it doesn't obligate those who've taken your money to address your anger about how the club's being managed.
We feel strongly and passionately that it should but it doesn't, and it's highly unlikely that in today's world of football, most specifically at the top levels, that it ever will.

a) Football isn't a simple entertainment supply business.

b) Even if it was saying the quality of the football provided doesn't matter is patently incorrect. They need provide success or they wont sell as many tickets. That is already becoming evident.

I didn't say it was, nor do I think that it is.
Neither did I say that the quality of football provided didn't matter.

What I did say was the people who manage our club do not feel an obligation to address our anger just because we've bought match tickets.

They're more likely to do so if we stop buying tickets, that's the irony.

So in a free market, one of the ways that prices differentiate between buyers is a higher quality product. If i'm Joe Public and I'm deciding between dropping £900 on a lower tier season ticket at Arsenal and £750 on a lower tier season ticket at Chelsea, what exactly am I getting for that extra £150? Padded seats?

I think we all get that you're being quasi facetious Capi, but I also think it needs to be said that if we weren't a big club we wouldn't be charging stupid money to come see us play. There's an underlying expectation amongst fans that this club is successful (no matter how long ago that may be), and "success" is inherently defined as competing for trophies.

The supply is fixed (60k stadium), so the only thing that will positively influence ticket prices is a decrease in demand.

If people stop going to games ticket prices will drop, and there would likely be some serious investment in the team.

There's a lot more to building Arsenal as a brand than just selling 60k seats every week.

The way they manage season ticket makes sure the stadium is 66% filled for all CL and league matches, the in-flexibility with moving tickets transferring or deferring means the actual given supply of tickets to most members is less than 20% of the stadium. That's how they keep demand high enough to maintain the ticket prices at the level they are are at, only a 10-20% drop in the number of season tickets sold would really start to impact the club in terms of filling games.

On top of that there are many season ticket holder who simply don't turn up or give their ticket on, this again limits the supply down and anyone who goes to the grove regularly will tell you the number of people doing this is significant.

You're getting close to it Banduan, Capi is incorrect in calling it a simple business transaction- Ya pays your money ya takes your turn.
It's much more similar to when a particularly odious regime takes control of your government and your life, you didn't vote for them and you despise their policies- Now they want you to go a fight for them in their repugnant illegal war that they've started, you love your country (club) and don't want to let them down in their hour of need or be seen as a shirker or coward but you certainly don't want to die for a bunch of criminals.
The gun being held to your head is not a real one as it sometimes is for people in this situation I've described, but an emotional one.
But Capi is correct in the sense that it's up to the individuals themselves to choose if the price they are been forced to pay is too high or they are prepared to revolt as many do, because There is a choice theres always a choice.

£40 mil is not derisory for a man banned for 6 league matches with a history of further bans, a bad image and one top season goal wise (in which he was banned number for the last 4 games).
