dont buy the theory that the board is forcing wenger to spend. they cant tell arsene anything these days, theyve given him 'final cut' on all major decisions. he has approved the bids weve made so far. i do think gazidis put the onus on wenger with his comments about our resources last month, but i wouldnt class that as 'forcing'.
at the end of the day despite our larger than normal bids, we're still empty handed. for me its less about what resources we have, because the whole world knows how flush we are. its more about how far we're willing to go to close these deals. sometimes you have to overpay to get big deals done, and my feeling is the club arent prepared to do this.
