I said £35m plus....
I said it because £35m is the amount we've allegedly bid for Suarez, meaning that is probably in and around as high as we'll bid, Kelly

i think this will be rejected and will put in a final offer at £40 mill. gut feeling.

Gut feelings are just wishes

Regardless, I'd rather spend about 45-50 million on two top players in positions where we really need them, than spend 40m on Suarez even though he's a fantastic player.

i'd rather spend 40 on suarez and 20 on fellaini then.

That would be great 😃

My fear would be that Wenger wouldn't buy anyone else after having spent so much on Suarez.

unrealistic i know, but letting a few players go could free up some additional funds.

😆 Wenger making a 40m offer, I barely believe he made the 30m bid anyway.

I honestly can't believe people seriously think Wenger would bid 35-40m for a player.

The most realistic scenario is that Wenger has been in a very intense battle with Madrid for weeks with Higuain, because we bid 22m and they want 22.1m

I don't know Higgy, I don't even think he'd bid 22M.

😆
I don't think he's bid a total of 40M for all the players he's ever bought.

£40m on a player with absolutely no sense of loyalty who really wants to go to RM.
Are those brown front teeth of his made of gold?

That's the single biggest issue. The personality side I could take or leave if I thought he'd be coming here to commit himself to Arsenal for the rest of his career. He wouldn't.

When journo's ask Wenger "what do you think of Sampire" he always answers in the standard polite blandishment way, (he's a good player any manager would be delighted to have).....Headlines next day- WENGER STEPS UP PURSUIT OF SAMPIRE.

Love or hate him we all know what he's going to do.

I really don't want to see this man in an Arsenal uniform. After years of abusing him, berating Liverpool supporting acquaintances for cheering a despicable creature like him and just generally being disgusted by his vile behaviour, it will be make me cringe having to enjoy a goal scored by him. I hope this story is untrue but it doesn't look like it.

Next we will be linked with Shawcross.

What do you think of Shawcross Arsene?
I zink ee ez a cunt
Headlines next day- WENGER HATES ENGLISH PLAYERS!

i'm against this. don't trust this cnut, loose cannon that could go off again at any time, then cry about the evil press while making eyes at real.

rather have higuain, who may be less versatile/creative, but at least you know he'll keep his head down and get on with it.

How many strikers couldn't you get for £40m?

That's not the question though is it?

Well, the answer is almost certainly 'Ronaldo, Neymar & Messi', which pretty much puts every other striker in the world in play. So it answers the original point - unless you think Suarez is the third best striker in the world (and unless you're a lobotomised scouser, you don't), there are plenty of alternatives to this guy. Probably even ones with better footballing track-records, and free of rabies.

Cavani and Falcao would be just out of reach at £40m as well, I'd say.

Think Cavani would move for around the £40m mark, and Falcao alread has (though figures on his transfer fee differ wildly).

Either way, £40m is comfortably enough to buy us a seat at the table in negotiations for any striker that might hit the market this summer.

Well, it's ballpark. But both are probably more devastating and productive than Suarez particularly for our requirements.

The issue there would be wages.

Well, egghead reckons we can pay over £220k / week too.

Could get Ibrahimovich for less than £40m (although his wages are literally the highest in the world according to most reports).

Most reports have Cavani moving to PSG for around 60 million euros and Falcao moving for around 50 million pounds.

If the likes of Chelsea and City are putt off by his price tag then it's not peanuts we are talking about.
